As I said a couple days ago, this isn't about the money. It's about him wanting more than he could ever have in the relationship. He was a play partner only and that wasn't enough. But he wasn't willing to give up the play and more importantly, the dream that someday she would decide she actually loved him more. Now, both of them were wrong. Him for saying it was enough when it wasn't and her for ignoring her instincts that kept telling her he wasn't happy. Miss A would not have been repeatedly asking him if it was enough unless she knew it wasn't. She had to have sensed that he needed a primary, someone to love him. But acknowledging that would have meant she would have lost him years ago and she didn't want that, so she stayed in denial of what her gut was telling her. Had they been honest with each other, they could have parted as friends. But neither wanted to give up what they had in order to get something more fulfilling. Which has led to the dreadful unhappiness posted here. The moral of the story children, is don't lie to others, and never to yourself.
