Fuck all this CM-bashing toys out of the pram negativity shit.

I *like* this place, goddamnit!

Things I've picked up here:

Somebody (honestly can't remember who so I can't give her credit, but if anyone remembers let me know) mentioned balancing a container of iced water on an s-type's back and just...leaving it there as a predicament thing. I think she was talking about a punishment, but I felt inspired and a while ago I tried it: a shallow plastic tray full of ice, which I topped up with cup-fulls of cold water. I didn't stop adding water when I reached the brim, so it kind of went everywhere, but that's what bathtubs are for! She was shivering and cursing and trying not to move because moving meant more spillage, and it was a whole lot of fun.

Lance's idea about making soneone count down-then-up-then-down during a beating has been added to the 'stuff that will happen at some point when I remember' ideas pot in my head. And Lance talking about shaving someone's head into a mohican has been added to the 'stuff that's unlikely to happen but is just plain HAWT' pot.

During one of the interminable forced-femme thread I came up with the idea of making up a male sub's face and then persuading him to come out to a party or something without being allowed to look in a mirror first-if the stimulus hadn't been there I wouldn't have thought of it (forced femme isn't something I'm automatically attracted to), but I like it as a concept. It's in the ideas pot.

Being a practical person I've stuck to practical examples, but I feel like this place has given me a *lot* of thoughts and ideas that would have been harder at least and impossible at best to come up with on my own.

Anybody else want to share?

i havent heard too many ideas until now. i think i will give the icey water tray thing a go. now i have the idea of having somebody sitting on a block of ice in their undies while holding filled tray of hot, but not boiling or hot enough to burn, tea. when they start to shiver, the tea will dribble over the sides and land on them. the sudden introduction of heat to ice cold skin would be quiet a shock.

Nice topic.... hopefully it wont get moved to bondage gear and apparel. Sometimes there are ideas over on that forum that should be out here for people to read.

I got some ideas that have improved my needleplay (though I worked with someone in person to supplement it, I might not have thought to ask).  From the forced femme threads, I decided what I liked and didn't like about the idea, and decided to have my femsub playpartner dress as a guy and rip her clothes off and wrestle her into a cocktail gown, heels, hose, and maybe opera-length gloves.  I got some ideas on what I *would* like in a humiliation play context, too.

I learned from CM that there was this awesome place I could talk about my orientation without a bunch of people talking in third-person-speak, deferring to whomever claimed to be a dom, and that we would judge each other by the content of our posts, not by our orientation...

I learned that there were many ways people define themselves and their relationships, and that this is okay.

I learned there is no One Twue Way

I learned ice cubes up the ass can kill someone... good thing I never thought this sounded fun

LMAO... I was happy to learn that one too! I had no idea. When I was a small one I used to hear about using cool enema's to bring down a fever, it made me clench my butt cheeks REALLY hard for a long time.

I thought of another thing: this isn't technically an idea in itself, but Anda, you've inspired me to just leave that blindfold on a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit longer before starting play, with all your talk of sensory deprivation

(And ok, by a liiiiiiittle bit I mean quite a lot, but hey, who's quibbling? )

???!!!!?!?!?!?!??!?!

You aren't supposed to bring cold water anywhere near a small person with a fever in case they go into shock. You strip them off and give them a sponge bath with *warm water*.

How do people not know that? I thought that was common knowledge.

What I've learned from most of the dating part of the site: being a feminist, intelligent, happy submissive who has limits and needs is obnoxious, and I should just shut up and learn my place already.

What I've learned from most of the message boards: being a feminist, intelligent, happy submissive who has limits and needs is delightful and hot

Well not so much Idea's but I have learned a Lot about the counter or my own orientation.

I have learned why some subs hate the term slave.

I have learned why some slaves hate the term sub.

I have learned what Switch means to many different people.

I have learned what Independent submissive means to some people.

I have learned what some people think of other people.

I have learned what having an unpopular opinion can mean to some people as well as what someone else having an unpopular opinion can mean to me.

What I have come away with from CM is that we are an opinionated bunch, and that to some of us having our opinions threatened by someone else’s opinion can bring our card houses down.

What I have learned the most here is that to each of us, our opinions are genuine, even when misguided. I know that some of us think of One True Way’ers as a Blight, when in reality they are just trying to find their own foot hold, some of them are only trying to convince themselves that what they are doing is okay to do.

I have learned that some people are only Powerful in Persona only, and that behind the image is someone who is very afraid, confused, and worried about what they are. They are amazed by what they think this is supposed to be, but in the end they just want to be okay with what they are thinking, and how those thoughts excite them.

I have also learned that some people take words on a screen very seriously; they allow those words to define the end all, be all of a person. As if somehow a jumble of thoughts and ideas and letters on one subject or another can define the depths of a human being.

I have learned that what is right and what is fair are often different things in this lifestyle.

I have learned that at times I can be closed minded about something, while at others I can be equally far too accepting of something as well.

In all I have learned that CM is a great place to learn from as long as you are willing to take everything in and give it the acknowledgement it deserves.

I haven't read the other replies; I wanted to give my unadulterated response.

There have been 2 things in particular I've learned *about*.

One was cuckoldry.  Never really understood that in the past (I don't get the whole emotional sadism / maso thing).  There was a thread once that totally clarified it for me.  Totally NOT my thing, but I appreciated the understanding.

The other thing is a certain clarity about slavey types.  I wrote about how I can't respect them because they are following someone else totally.  I have come to realize quite a lot about that.  If the slave is with someone I don't trust, I can't (by default) trust the slave.  If they are with someone I respect and trust, I can.  That was a real eye-opener for me.  I realized that my way of looking at it was a non-black and white thing.  I hadn't realized my view point was a step away from the slavey type person.

That was good to know.

Oh yes, and of course I learned how horrible some people I loved can be.  That was a serious eye-opener.

best,
sunshine

I learned I don't have to be thin and buff, into crossdressing men and hating them, or never have penetrative sex again, in order to be a dominant woman. I learned that everyone has their own style, and that's right and good. I learned that there's a wealth of possibilities, and I should at least consider how to do it SSC (or RACK) if it gets me hot thinking about it, because someone's into it somewhere.  I learned that I don't have to be perfect the first time I play, and saw a lot of examples of how to do things...and, I'll admit, some examples of how not to do it.

I agree with all of it completely!
I also learned that this CM can be cliquey as hell which is sad.
My Master's picked up some great punishments and I've seen some beautiful ways that people apart can stay very close.
And now that I posted on this thread master will see it as well. I'm afraid now I'll learn what it's like to balance a tray of ice on my back.
That is a pretty good one

I've learned it's okay to be submissive AND not compromise on my relationship requirements. I've learned other things, of course, but learning that it was okay to be me is still the biggest and the one I most value.

What I've picked up is not the big things, although I have learned that one can ask dumb questions and not be treated any differently as well as helpful suggestions as to where to fine more complete details to educate myself in areas I am clueless. Where I have found CM to a veritable gold mine is in the microscopic things, in the nuances and ways people do things. I have refined my slave handling techniques and dealing with likeable but difficult people on and off line. I have a list of people I find awesome (this is indeed most unusual for me)..

Ahhhhhh no my friend, some of them I mentioned on another thread but the list is rather on the largish side.  But then we all can write a list of whom we find awesome on CM just as we can write probably an even larger list of people we also find awesome and not necessarily met in person in the everyday world in which we live.. I'll give you a little clue on the latter list; absolutely awesome men were those real heroes flying medivac choppers through heavy rain and gunfire into the slopes of mountains to lift off the wounded and in my case the wounded SF troopers.. It all depends on personal definitions and what you find awesome.
