Would i commit a crime to provide for my child? Yes, and i would accept the consequences of said crime. People commit crimes all the time with valid excuses, still doesnt make the crime acceptable. To hide behind children as an excuse to commit a crime is, to me, not the act of an adult.
To put this on a more personal note, i would kill for my son... and then turn myself in.

We are back to the argument on the other thread, mike. Should children become citizens simply because they are born on american soil to a parent here illegally? Do criminals deserve to benefit? This is a loop hole in the law that many take advantage of for just the reason you state. I can feel empathy without sympathy. I expect the same of the law.

Hard to do in an "open" society....I for one would be loath to accept the need for National Identity cards...it smacks of a police state.
And here is a part of the problem. Every solution that is brought up has someone claiming the same response. Its time to end the excuses and do something. Which is what i feel Az is forcing. The fed government to step up and take responsibility. Else, the states will.

I agree with this.....with the proviso that one realises the economic cost that would be incurred here(again I'm not advocating the exploitation of immigrants...just drawing your attention to one of the consequences of a proposed path.
We all know the consequences. Businesses will use the immigration solutions, as they do everything else, to their advantage. Again, its up to the fed government to deal with this situation. New business models arent always bad things. Using people and treating them as "less" than those here legally is always a bad thing. I cannot advocate this behavior from businesses, nor can i settle back and smile at the knowledge that what rewards i am reaping by lower prices is based upon the sweat, hard work, and lack of respect of a race of people. In that, i liken it to slavery.
So, while you see only racism, i see a group of people, some i know personally, who are used for the simple fact that they can be bought cheaper. And if you believe they dont know that, you are mistaken. Many resent the fact that, while they have a better chance of a better life here, they dont have the equal chance the rest of us do for the same work. Sound familiar?
