Ok I got a cat, an ex feral cat that someone brought in to the vets for whatever, which the vet said the great pick up and put down as is common with unowned cats, seeing as the cat pounds are overflowing. I got my cat, my ex feral cat from the receptionist who knew I wanted a cat, far better than that unkind needle in the neck for the reason the creature does not have a human owner, humanitarian they call it killing an otherwise healthy cat. So I have the cat, and after a few months she is starting to respond to humans, her fur is dematted and she has a good diet when she wants it, even love if that is required for I see the cat that lives with me as another lost soul unsure of what is confonting her.
Ok, my place has always been a watering hole for cats, whatever cat of whatever human owner, they come here after they have been turfed out for the night, they feed and rest as previously catless I always had attractive to cats food in.
Now, since I have a resident cat, I have noticed a difference in just what cat jumps through my window for something better than the nightly stalk, and of those brave cats, what they do too , I understand as authorise their access to the food bowl they have to smell human and to get that, they submit the how to get something out of a human mode, which they do quite well as cats are adorable.
I understood something this evening, a regular visitor through the window on seeeing my ex feral cat staking out the food bowl came directly to me and there did a serious sucking up session, seeking a human's touch. Now out of interest and wary of my cat's eye I did not respond to the wiles of this visiting cat, the cat sought human touch and believe me that was very hard but I had to know. The cat left, ventured to the food bowl and was hissed off by the cat that lives with me, the cat then exited out the window from whence it came.
I understand now a human touch and there smell is advantageous to cats, even amongst their own kind, they need us in our domesticated world to live as easy as they can live, as it is nature to seek a better lifestyle, we even do it ouselves.
But what interests me is the power of scent, the cat it seemed needed my scent to get what it wanted, l denied that, it went away, so if cats being animals, which is basically what we are, how does scent affect us today ?
Does anyone have any idea that human scent is advantageous to them, perhaps another's scent, or even a scent created to achieve a result, has anyone had experience of these?
We live in an overtly perfumed world, what of the scent of nature, is it comforting or repulsive ?
