How about the originators of the story about "Iraqi weapons of mass destruction"? Or, the originators of the Obama "Change" myth?

Actually, on this point, as I pointed out in another thread, it is a case of semantics, concerning Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Were there any weapons of mass destruction found?
Yes, 500 chemical rounds containing DEGRADED mustard gas and sarin nerve agent.

Please note the word degraded.

Were these rounds useful as weapons?
Only if you were hit by them falling on you after being fired. The degraded agents were harmless as chemical weapons.

Were there any nukes found in Iraqi arsenals?
No, the Israeli Air Force disabled the Iraqi reactor needed to manufacture weapons grade materials in 1981 and it was never repaired, it was completely destroyed by Allied forces during the 1991 gulf war.

As I said, semantics.

Of course, the 500 metric tons of yellowcake left over were shipped to Canada after the invasion ...

And the justification was to prevent Saddam's acquisition of WoMD, if I recall.

We're not talking about George Orwell's 1984 here by insisting that our news sources report news in an unbiased manner.  Don't be stupid by dreaming up idiotic scenarios that fit your paranoid delusions about the left wing.  All that is right wing propaganda and they have really gone out of their way to make some very absurd comparisons.

Wow. What an incredibly ignorant (or blindly partisan and arrogant) thing to say. I've already mentioned Dan Rather in the thread, too.

Say, JLF. What sort of bullshit filled internet sites are you living in to not know any history at all of Iraq's use of WMD, long before Bush II needed an excuse? Should we close those down too?

No it isn't.  And since I fail to see anything constructive come from that side, ever, I'm going to say that what I said is right on target.  If anyone is working towards an Orwellian type government, it's the neocons.  Either that, or they're working towards trying to make the rapture happen.

Why don't you and Sanity () get a room.

Gosh, y'all make me feel mean, y'all are really bringing out my insult sadist.

The question is, should the person or persons who originated the story be held on criminal charges for the problems they caused to local law enforcement agencies with the shear volume of calls relating to the story?

As much as I love the idea of Dan Rather having spent a couple decades in jail, and everyone at MSNBC going to prison: no.
Good luck with that pesky little 1st Amrndment thing.

Well- they'd at least have to ban Alan Colmes.

What did you expect with a comment like that?  I'm kind of damned if I do and damned if I don't, aren't I?  I prefer to defend myself.  So, I think I will.  You're initial statement was quite ugly and was met with the ugly response it deserved.  I might add that your statement was also unprovoked and unsolicited.

You're the one that made such a suggestion in the first place.

ETA:  Pardon me, it was Sanity, either way, it was someone on your side that brought that up.

I wish that there was some sort of legal ramification for false reporting, or inciting agression as a result of false reporting.  I see these sort of reports as fodder for the ignorant, of which there are MANY, unfortunately.  People do not think for themselves or bother to do any research on their own.  People rely on people to tell them what to think.  That is why shows like Limbaugh, Beck, Maddow, ect are so popular.  No need to think about anything.  Let someone else do it for you.
