At least Maddow shows resources, I don't know about the others, since I never watch them.  I only watch Maddow when someone else mentions something that she's done.  Then I watch her on YouTube.  I think she's hilarious and she usually makes some good points.  However, I've not seen her talk about something and not show any references or resources for her information.

I agree.  When I was going through college we all had to cite our sources.  And I still believe that not doing your own research is lazy.  I can make someone believe anything if I find a source to back it up, regardless of whether or not that source is accurate.   I do believe in citing sources because it then gives me a clue on where they are coming from in their reasoning.  And from that point I can check things out on my own (research is my passion).  Too often though I find people do not do their own fact finding.  They rely on media sources to tell them what to think.  Sheep.

Really?  What do you do?  I'm in geography!  I'm doing research on nitrate levels in groundwater, but I'm fixing to start doing research on HIV/AIDS late testers.  I'm going to be doing late testers over a period of years up to 2006.  I just received the data and the background research that my colleagues have been looking at.  Though, I will probably dig up my own articles, as well.

Anyway, very excited to be getting back into the swing of things.  I'll be using Space Time Intelligence Software.  It lets you map a phenomenon and animate the changes of that phenomenon over time.  It's pretty cool.

The question is, should the person or persons who originated the story be held on criminal charges for the problems they caused to local law enforcement agencies with the shear volume of calls relating to the story?

I personally think people shouldn't be allowed to say or write anything without having verified sources to support it, unless expressly stated as opinion. But that's not the world we live in, nor will it ever be.

Of course, I also would like to see mandatory birth control, with no one allowed to have children or reproduce until they pass a parenting class and have the financial means to support children, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, lol.
