We appreciate your slapstick comedy, and maybe if NOTHING is done, and this country
is overtaken by terrorists from all over the world, and 9/11 is small potatoes,

we will still have one of the greatest minds of all times to lead us, the internet prick with all the jokes, and usually nothing to say, that spends most of his life trashing other people and spewing bullshit on the internet.

It sucks to be you.
But one day, you will be my bitch.
Goodnight you vanilla white wanna be black bitch

OK, I'm going to take this one seriously and say that the only way to address the problem of illegal immigration is to crack down on employers who hire them.  Until you do that, you're just farting around, and that means most bills, laws, "movements," whatever, aren't really about illegal immigration at all; they're about something more sinister.

The problem, for those of you who are still with me, is that local governments in this country can't or won't, as a rule, go after the employers who hire illegal immigrants, and that means we're not going to have a real solution to the problem under the present political system.

And "another" drug gang pops up in Mexico.
They're just "infants" though, they've only killed six people so far.

Only because we won the war on terror? Our borders are sieves, where are the terrorosits?

You sell fear as motivation. Prove your point. It is apparent that anyone who wants to make a concerted effort to get into this Country probably can.

Where are the attacks?

Sell the fear instead of dealing with the realities of the situation. 1969 miles of border. That is reality. There are few roads and much of the terrain is completely unnavigatable as well as inhospitable.

I think cadenas painted a fairly realistic portrait of the situation.

Let's brankrupt the country to protect us from those that are supposedly bankrupting the country.

You make grand and sweeeping statements as how they, the illegals, are afforded the same rights and priveleges as Americans citizens...Prove it!

Do we need to gather control of our borders? In theory it would be ideal, in practice another matter entirely.

Since you are terrified of terrorism what are you going to do about the U.S. Canadian border?....The Canada – United States border, officially known as the International Boundary, is the longest border in the world. The terrestrial boundary (including small portions of maritime boundaries on the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic coasts, as well as the Great Lakes) is 8,891 kilometres (5,525 mi) long.

Are the terrorists only allowed to come in through Mexico?

If we get hit we get hit. I am not willing to allow myself to worry about the possibility.

How many times has it been said, "If Domiguy worries about a terrorist attack, haven't the terrorists already won?"

You want to thwart the illegals force the employers to stop hiring them. Legalize the drugs we can live with and try our best to intercept those we feel we cannot.

There are no easy answers and thus far your's and pop's ideas "border" on the ridiculous.

Until the gap between how much it sucks to be there versus how much better it is to be here closes dramatically, those who want to get here will get here.

Employers of the work that Mexican immigrants are capable to do will always seek the lowest qualified labor cost.

The money and resources necessary to create an enormous wall or enforce laws that force businesses to hire more expensive labor is a fruitless undertaking.

Only when living in Mexico stops sucking will the "problem" be fixed.

Our efforts and resources should be focused on supporting that outcome.

We cant change the conditions in Mexico, and there are more than just Mexicans coming across the border.

We can enforce the laws here in the states to the point of making hiring of illegals cost preventative, it just means more manpower to do the enforcement of the laws.

We can build a physical barrier along the border and patrol it around the clock, just means construction cost and a continuous road along the border to facilitate making the patrolling easier.

We can place military personnel along the border and the cost is negligible since we are already paying for those service members.

The question becomes, with the border patrols using military, what orders do we give them, detain and deport, or shoot.

Short of militarizing the border, there is no way to actually secure it.

OK, I'm going to step in and say this:

As long as our border with Mexico looks like this, we will never be able to control illegal immigration. And before y'all jump down my throat, I am only addressing one issue purposely. The only thing I am trying to do is to demonstrate how ineffective our border currently is.

These photos were taken by me on the US/Mexico Border near Palominas, Arizona. Yes, that cut barbed wire fence is our border, and in the second picture, the road in the left is in the US, and the one on the right is in Mexico.

So, slvemike, and others, what do we do to secure the border? Here is the chance to give your ideas.

I may have mentioned this before...
All the states have to do is enforce existing federal law against employing those who cross the border illegally. I believe tazz posted the law which shows it to be something like $250,000 and/or 5 years in the federal pen. for each illegal employed.

That is not what was proven. In order for the fines to be that high, the employers must have enticed or harbored an illegal to the US.

oh no doubt, Master Ron. Even the smaller fine for just hiring an illegal could, potentially, bankrupt many small business owners into making better choices.

The law states specifically that employing is harboring.
All that is necessary is to show that the employer knew that they had crossed the border illegally as opposed to overstaying thier visa.

We have been through this, thompson. Its not that cut and dry and you know it. As Master said to me last night "prove to me you are a US citizen". Anyone could gain access to a birth certificate, SS card, marriage license, ect. Thats all it takes to have "proof" and the employer is in the clear without having to know or admit a thing.

picking fights again, julia? defining exactly what drugs we are referring too, when mike says as far as he knows its only pot being pushed for legalization, and me offering proof other drugs are as well, sorta makes knowing which drugs we are both talking about, and agreeing on what we are speaking of, necessary.
