MBMBN, and how could we forget Boston's Mayor, Thomas M. "Mumbles" Menino?
He calls "Sky-Scrapers" "Side-Scrapers!"

This is too funny!

lol....
Ya Know:
It's bad enough to have a New England accent, but to have a New England accent with a speech impediment ? God must have been in a very silly mood that day.

First we give you the good Sen. Kerry and his tugboat saga. Now we give you Barney and his senior citizen woes.
This one is laughbable. If anyone of you have heard him when he is on a rant with reporters or when being interviewed, you can only imagine how idiotic he must have sounded.

Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank caused a scene when he demanded a $1 senior discount on his ferry fare to Fire Island's popular gay haunt, The Pines, last Friday. Frank was turned down by ticket clerks at the dock in Sayville because he didn't have the required Suffolk County Senior Citizens ID

edited to add: Should read " another baffoon, two "f"s.

Is that the best the conservatives in the USA can do towards the Democrats? Petty little things, that really dont matter? Obama, with Democrats, break the filibuster on unemployment, and renew for those unemployed. And what do the Republicans do to retailate? They go snooping for the petty arguements. How many Republicans have dodged paying taxes in the last decade? Actually, quite a few of them.

While Mr. Frank is rather amusing, he is often correct on his arguements. Shouldn't senior citizens pay less for a ferry? Sure. If a company posts a sign 'anyone over 65, is entitled to $1 off their ferry ticket', they have to honor it. I'm guessing that is what the arguement stems from. An unless your a born and raised New Englander, your not going to understand the issue.

So yes, is this REALLY, the best the Republicans can come up with? Petty little instances? Have they lost all ability to be adults? Who can think for themselves? Come up with solutions that help Americans and/or America?

Why don't you come forward with a real topic? Like Immigration Reform, Border Security, Economic Stimulus, Handling Iran. Not a single Republican can come forward with anything real in Congress either. Its just the pettiness Republicans have to fuel their ignorance, anger, hatred, and intolerance. That might be why, wacho's like Sharron Angle and Rand Paul have such a following. Why conservatives find Sarah Palin, so charming; because she would lose 'hard core' in a arguement with Mr. Obama, on subjects that matter to Americans.

I'm pretty bi partisan on this one, joether. Could have been Trent Lott for all I care.
It's funny ! Laughable, humourous.  Causing a public scene over a senior citizen discount, it's funny.

But if you want to be all kids of serious, he wasn't entitled to it. Apparently you need some sort of county ID to be entitled to it.

Have you ever seen Ol Barney on one of his tirades ? He's like a madman. He looks and sounds idiotic and I personally find it humourous. That has nothing at all to do with his politics, it's his general persona. An idiotic buffoon.

Joether, I am a born and bred New Englander as is MBMBN. We were just having a little fun in here is all, lighten up!
I agree with most of your other things too. Except Sara Palin, what has she got to do with anything? She's just milking the lecture circuit for all it's worth while "the gettin's good." What does she get, $50k per speech? Of course she's going to say controversial stuff just to keep the gravy train going! Wouldn't you if you were in her position? Sheesh! She's really a "non-issue" I don't know why some Democrats get sooo upset about her. They're just easily goaded I guess.
And I don't like many Republicans just like you! I couldn't stand Bush and look at what we get, "Bush 3" in the form of Obama! He's more conservative than Bush 2 ever was! Lol, if you're looking for "salvation" you won't be getting it from him!
The only way this country is going to get any "hope and change" is to get rid of a LOT of people in Washington this November! You onboard?
I had the "audacity of hope" to think that Obama would *finally* secure that Mexican border and start enforcing our immigration laws and get us out of all those "free-trade" deals that are KILLING this country! Well didn't I get a lump of coal in my Christmas stocking! I've been let down by him too so don't feel like the Lone Ranger there!
But, you have to keep trying! Don't be so hard on yourself J, things will get better!
Oh, and as for "handling Iran" Israel is in the ready seat first followed by Europe. The U.S. is way down on the food chain as far as "handling Iran" there's simply no national interest there for us. Their missiles could hit S. Europe, the U.S. is too far away to be affected so Europe and Israel will have to tag team Iran. Besides, we're broke! We can't afford anymore wars!
In the meantime, feel free to jump into this thread and have some fun!

This has nothing to do with John Kerry. It is his accountant’s job to legally minimize his income tax payable. Kerry is doing the same thing everybody else does.

I am for less taxes. John Kerry is not, unless it applies to him. He should move his 7 million dollar boat back to Massachusetts and pay the taxes he owes his home state. He is a tax cheat.

The " accountant made me do it " defense didn't workout so well for Leona Helmsley.

Doesn't anyone else find it ironic that Barney Frank is whining about a Ferry?
The guy has no qualms about spending tax payer's money, but heaven forbid spending a fucking dollar of his own money.

The thing is Kerry wants higher taxes on the rich. Except for himself, of course. He doesn't even want to pay the current tax on his wealth.

                   mbmbn

I love it when rml and i agree.

Again I have to ask the question I asked Servant, aren't conservatives opposed to taxes and in favor of letting people keep their wealth?

Remember the whole death tax thing?

So who is actually being hypocritical?

There is a big difference between lower taxes for everyone and lower taxes for the few who have figured out a way to cheat the system. And when the ones cheating the system are the same guys who have been pushing to raise everyone elses taxes, they get called on it. Do you think they should get a free pass?

You are right again brain. I always park my yacht in Ohio to avoid taxes. I mean it's just the in thing to do right?

The $500,000 will be paid to MA as it should have, now that he got caught.

Yeah, why didn't he just do the right thing in the first place?
He just gave his opposition a lot of "ammo" to use against him when (or if) he goes up for election again!
Didn't he even think about that or did he just think he wouldn't get "caught?"

I believe what he did was legal at the outset.
I believe that living in the big house away from the masses in the street, caused him to be out of tune to the bulk of the common folk, and was blindsided by the backlash in perceptions.  (As nearly every senator and congressman and every government official is).
I believe  for the sake of his image and career (elections coming up in november) he chose to pay the money rather and try to find a way to minimize the damage in the public eye and have the story front page until november, and the irs and courts justifying their paychecks with a hard stance PR splash, because he knows that we will be on to the next thing in a day or two with some residual grousing.
