May he R.I.P.

As for those who felt the need to bring negativity to a thread that was supposedly started to "pay your respects", well, bless ya'lls hearts.

If anyone felt that My earlier comment was negative, I would like to offer My apologies.  I didn't wish for it to come across that way.  Not in the least little bit.

When something like this happens, it's always a reminder to Me that one person really does have the ability to touch other people's lives.  It may be somebody that you've never met, but you happen to know somebody that they know in common so you hear stories about them.  How they were a fixture tied to a certain memory or special occasion.  It's enough for Me to know that the people that I know are saddened by this to make Me feel a little sad, too.

I do wish the people who told Me those stories were here to share them on these boards.  I think it would have added to the content of the thread.

What I find sad is the little interest it has garnered here. I would think this thread would be flooded with concern.

JAS, I probably wouldn't have thought a thing of it.  I think most people understand that people say things that maybe come out a bit too fast when there's an emotional subject.  Personally, My typing speeds up when I'm putting My foot in My mouth.

John had a dream... he made that dream happen. For all the reasons he started what he did and there were many reasons, he was motivated enough to apply his efforts and money into something he believed in and believed was needed. To see all he worked for snuffed out like his life and beloved pet was... is heartbreaking... but the dream lives on, in others who are out there paving a path or making something happen.

That dream cost him a lot and in fact may have cost him his life... but he lived true to his dream and thankfully it touched others.

I know that when I think of John, I think of a man with a vision and a dream and anyone who can live their vision or dream, lived well. I don't want to focus on how he died, but how he lived.

i've never been to this club - most of my slave years have been in NYC so far - but seeing the effect of this in so many of my friends on this and other sites is heartbreaking. What an awful, awful event.

i don't know how many of you read the dominatrix true-life webcomic Nic Buxom - but she apparently worked there, and today has some very touching words about John on her blog. i think reading this was the moment when i really realized how connected everyone is.

Here's the link: http://nicbuxom.blogspot.com/2010/07/few-words.html

My sympathies to everyone affected by this tragedy.

That is the latest update I could find.

I also commented on the 'in the news' thread.

John was a kind and thoughtful person.

I am so sad for him and his wolf, his family and friends.

Michael, perhaps you ought to read my post more thoroughly. Exactly where did I say John deserved to be murdered? Gee, I do believe I said specifically that I'd never heard anything about him bad enough to justify what was done. Reading comprehension is a beautiful thing... And no, you didn't know John. You aren't part of the So Cal scene. You visit it at times. Perhaps you don't know as much about what you're saying as you think you do. You couldn't even remember if you'd BEEN to Passive Arts. You just want to be outraged. A theme with you..

And the thread is about whatever people post on it. You do not own it. Too bad you didn't like what I had to say but I had the right to say it. Freedom of speech is such a wonderful thing.

Beach,

I'm not Michael, and even if I was outing someone by giving their name in not okay.

You and I have sat and talked, I love you like a part of my own extended family, if you do not feel that way about me after what I said I am sorry.

I think you taking the time to take a Pot Shot at a club for not making you Queen of the Site and instead trying to focus on the business aspects of running a place like that, well I am sorry you disapprove. I most likely would have done the same thing. Overhead and Livelihood often take a front seat to someones ability to scene in a public setting. I am sorry this is just something that you and I will not agree on. The fact that you choose to do so on a thread that was obviously about his death shows your ability to be cold and heartless when certain people are met with Tragedy.

You are right that I visit the scene, you are right that I did not know him well enough to eat pastries with him near a pool, what I do know is people who I HAVE met and done such things spoke highly of him. I saw him as someone who DID SOMETHING in our lifestyle other than complaining that No One was DOING anything. He got up and Did something, no matter how well or how poorly at least he DID something.

Califgirl, you are right, I am concerned that people are showing little if any care when someone in the lifestyle publically is killed and then set on fire. It bothers me that in a couple days 70 people can find the time to say "I didn't know him that well but this is sad." or "He was like a Brother to me, I feel like crying" on just one other site, and that neatly 200 different people some from other countries can find the time to make a comment and that without the dismissive and distasteful comments on this and the other thread all that can be manages if 6 or 7 people is really just kind of sad.

I apologize to anyone who feels I am being to harsh, or overly dramatic, but as pointed out I didn’t really even know the man that well, and this is how bothered I am by what has happened. Obviously I am frustrated with a horrible thing that happened and I hope that I would be forgiven when I gather my composure.

And some of us live less than 15 miles away from the scene, have driven down that very street hundreds of times yet never went in. Frankly the thought of this happening so close is a bit saddening. Nobody deserves to have their end come like that. But there's not much useful to say beyond "Oh good, it's horrifying and sickening" in my case. Who the hell cares about the community aspect at this point, it's down to the damned loss of human life, and canine.

This is very sad news. Senseless acts of violence always are to me. We used to go to PA about 5 years ago. I don't remember meeting him but my husband met him a few times and said that he was very nice. I always enjoyed going to the club and I know most everyone did. I think as the news gets out more there will be more of a response on this thread.

RIP John

I have been thinking about this a lot since it was posted.

Violence on this scale always shocks me and I go inward.

It is true that somewhere in this country, in this world, terrible things like this happen every day... but this affects people that I care about, their friends and chosen family members.

I doubt I am one who will ever engage in public play in a venue such as this but I feel terribly sad for those for whom this place meant so much and more so still for the people who mourn John and have affection for his Koda.

From the ashes, may something good -- however small, rise from this tragedy.

I am very sorry this happened, what a horrible way to die. Several of my friends in So Cal have been to that club, one had been a regular. She was posting about this on another site earlier in the week.
