It hadn't reached his mind? That's the best you can come up with in his defense. I thought this man was supposed to be intelligent. Sometimes I think you just like arguing. Maybe you should visit your insurance company, maybe they could prescribe something for that.

And, you can never, ever admit when you are wrong.

Similar to passing judgement before facts are known. Then again, you believe that every water molecule is returned to the the "earth" once it has been used. Chemistry much?

Wow.....Not surprised though

If he would have left the boat in RI it would have been legal and I would have had no problem with it. That's not what he did though, is it ?

And it would seem, neither would his defenders on these boards. They only have a problem when its done by Republicans.

Are you that dense?

You really think old John sat down one might studying the tax info and deciding where to berth the boat?

Geezzzz, that's what rich people pay the accountants and the ones who run things for them to do.

You really believe he is paying the taxes, not because he knows he was wrong, but because he's just a great guy like that? Seriously?

I have never fudged it either.  It think that's a really shitty thing to do.

Yes, I can and have on these boards, but since you couldn't come up any logical reasoning for your post, so you resort to insults. Why am I not surprised?

To be honest, I don't claim charitable donations. I know it is allowed and even expected, but it just doesn't sit right with me.

LOL ! Freedom Fries. I always thought that was a ridiculous thing.

I have to fess up: That bottle of ketchup is probably a year old. I don't eat or use ketchup and have it on hand for others to use.
Now that Bull made me look, I guess I have to buy a new bottle next time I go shopping.

My thoughts exactly.  I also don't donate very much.  Generally I find that walking into a grocery store or what-have-you, and being verbally accosted to donate, turns me off.  I like seeing signs at the registers though. Don't ask me.  Let me donate.  Of course, this is completely off-topic.  Sorry to the OP.  O_O

I never fudged on my income tax, but I do claim the max. My charitable contributions exceed the max. So I have absolutely no problem claiming whatever I can.
Before anyone asks: Yes, I give my accountant reciepts for all my donations except for the  bags of dry non perishables I donate weekly to the food pantry.

I believe that as most wealthy people who have accountants and managers who handle those details neither Theresa or John ever set out to try and avoid paying taxes.

The accountants and mangers on the other hand?  Yes they did what they thought was in the best financial interest of their employer.  That's one of the things they get paid for.

After the reports started he picked up the phone and bitched at someone to pay whatever needs to be paid and put an end to this.

I now it doesn't make the great story you want about Kerry the tax evader, but it's a lot closer to the way things function when you start involving those sums of wealth.

Gee, I wonder if I can deduct used underware and moldy shower curtains as a tax write off?
Oh wait,...I can!

joether -> RE: Sen. Kerry to pay taxes in MA on Yacht (7/29/2010 9:59:03 AM)

Just as flcouple2009 pointed out above,

Corporations, big and small do the same exact thing. Paying taxed is an expense that depletes the bottom line. So they hire individuals to look through tax codes in states to maximize the profit. And they do this on a daily basis. If people are so angry at Mr. Kerry for doing what he did, they they should also be angry at corporations for doing the same. Where is the outrage, among Republicans, for corporations doing this? That's right....nonexistant!
