With regard to derailing, there are people that get REALLY upset about it. Apparently they see their nuggets of wisdom as being indispensible and disregarded with derailment. I see it as another form of communication, humor, joking, having fun. I don't paticularly have much of an illusion that anything I say here is gospel or saving lives though. I have NO expectation of serious meaningful discourse on CM anymore though and very rarely I am pleasantly suprised.

I found it funny reading the comments on fet that there were several posters that post WAY TOO FUCKING LONG on every response that left because they felt the derailment was why they weren't heard. It isn't. I do NOT read those posters that pontificate in a page or more with every response. I think it's been established in various threads here that MOST people here do not. I can read serious posts and humorous ones all together, I'm smart like that, I would hope most people are. Maybe the change is in response to those concerns.

I do understand the mods are doing their jobs and trying to keep everyone happy. I do not understand the flip flop from one type of moderation to another, maybe that's just a measure of the fact that we have more mods now and they have varying approaches, although I know that moderation is all under VAA's directives.

Here's my question...if I start a thread, I have no objection to derailment, humor, laughter and all sorts of frivolity. Does that work? Is there an exception for whom the OP is and their wishes?

I can understand why some people get persnickety about it, but I think more people enjoy a little humor thrown in with the meat on the bone. I enjoy serious interchanges as well as the humorous kind. I will say that when new people post here, and they have a legit question, and then their thread gets hijacked... well this might be bad form.

I think we are partially to blame for this pendulum effect. People start derailing threads where people have serious questions, then those people complain about how incorrigible we all are, so the mods swing the other way and try to nip hijacking in the bud because of one or two cases where it may have been done in a rude sort of way (and it can be rude at times, and I am as guilty as anyone here of doing it... so I am not judging)

We all know that the OP doesn't own the thread and it is just "out there"

When I was a midwife at an anteater obstetrics wing, I can remember how excited the mothers to be would get when they heard the words "I see the head!"  They soon learned that this was followed by an hour of "I see the nose!  I see more of the nose!  I see MORE of the nose!".

My gift to you Laurell.  Don't get excited and exhale when you hear "I see the head!"  Your work will have just begun.

No charge for this advice.  I would hope no state burds will be harmed in the making of the baby though.

I am fairly confident that I have a resident mouse living within my Domicile. He is a crafty beast.

He ate a cheerio that was on the floor....I know, I know, but the maid wasn't scheduled to arrive until November. So why pick it up?

I also saw a few droppings on a newspaper. They were much smaller than mine. Besides, I haven't pooped into a newspaper since that weekend that I was in a high rise office building and to my horror I discovered all of the bathroom doors were locked.

Anywhooo, I will destroy my nemesis on my own terms. The mouse is the most deadliest prey alive. There will be no cats involved. Cats are more vile than the meesessess.

I would end up having to buy a HUGE mouse trap and use the mouse as bait to get rid of the cat. Pick it up with a pitch fork and throw the fucker into the garbage.

41 states have designated at least one state insect or more. Most of the states pick butterflies or honey bees. Those states should immediately be absorbed by more manly states.

New Mexico has listed two...Some faggoty ass butterfly and the Tarantula hawk wasp.

"The tarantula hawk is a species of spider wasp which hunts tarantulas as food for its larvae..... The stinger of a female tarantula hawk can be up to 1/3 inch (7 mm) long, and delivers a sting which is rated among the most painful in the insect world." Can you say, bad fucking ass bug?

Kudos to you, New Mexico.

Add to my bucket list....Sub must get tat of the New Mexico State flag as well as a tat of the Tarantula hawk wasp right above her go-go hole.
