I don't attend any munch so far as I have no interest to connect over here as I won't stay over here (had enough drama llama and blame games for being serious about not staying here and have no interest to add any more to it). However, once I relocated I can imagine well to attend munches.

Well done I am quite impressed...Tho I disagree with a few of your view points.

Photoghers rights: enjoy! it is quite educational. To escort anyone from public space with a camera violates their 1st
amendment rights.

Get your knowledge on! you are welcome.

The 1st amendment applies to "public" or government owned properties. Restaurants, homes, businesses, etc are all privately owned. To escort someone away from a business taht is privately own violates no one's rights.

Do you EVER get tired of being wrong? Or are you going for some new world record here? Buy a Soda a french fry a cup of coffee any purchase from said privately owned operation they are at that point providing you a "service" and someone saying whoa is me someone is taking pictures and I think I might have been caught up in one so I want them removed as someone might see me in this still photo and see me eating a corn chip is simply moronic. Now get me started on Video...You have a LOT to learn young one. However while you still seem to think you know it all go and solve all the worlds problems before you realize you do not.

If someone trys to take a picture of me, I cover my face discreetly.  I hate being the object in any photos.

You mention first amendment right...I mention models release...I refuse to sign one.  Therefore, the photo is moot and should be trashed.

Very little desire as I don't see anything very positive being derived from going. Might be a great people watching event, but beyond that there would be little point in attending.

Way too particular about who I choose to hangout with. bdsm is not a big enough of a draw to think that my or other's interests in bdsm would supersede our presonal interaction or relationship. It is a personal and a private relationship interet and I feel very little need share it with strangers other than my sub or the few people that I dig hanging around with. (and that can tolerate me)

That's why the munches I go to are the ones where I know the other folks! And we talk about fishing, or shooting, or what the kids are up to, and all sorts of non kink stuff. Which drives some folks CRAZY, I know, but FFS, since when is BDSM the ONLY thing to talk about?

The OP is claiming 39 years old and knows all.  Damn I must be one stupid motherf--r, I have been into this since I was 19, assuming our OP was the same age I still have 13 years more experience and I STILL don't know everything.  Munches besides being great way to socialize, out side of the "club" scene, can be an educational tool.  But hey what do I know as I said earlier I must be a stupid motherf--r.

This is a general reply after reading all the current posts.

Although I haven't been in position to attend for a few years, I have attended munches and other events. I'd recommend them. They're an excellent opportunity to meet local people and network. The people I've met have been friendly and willing to share their knowledge. Get as close or stay as far away as you personally desire. If you're not interested in becoming involved in cliques or politics - don't get involved in cliques or politics. Keep your dignity and don't participate in gossip or whatever. It's simple.

Learning live is certainly better than learning from a book or (here's a scarey thought) the internet. Safety, safety, safety - regardless of how much I may think I know there's always going to be something I didn't know. I'd prefer to not learn from experience where someone might be damaged by my ignorance. I appreciate anyone who will share knowledge.

VERY nice angle.........However I will be kind enough to clear up how and why modeling consents come into play. Pick a public setting of your choice. someone just bought a camera and is taking picture of everything that catches their eye. You happen to be the subject and without you ever knowing it your picture is taken. They add it perhaps to their  portfolio to show people what wonderful work they do. Your picture can be put on the web in a newspaper article front page even. Really there is not a thing you can do about it. Now when someone would ask you to sign a Modeling Consent would  be if they were going to use your person for commercial gain that is the only time a modeling consent is required. So to recap you in public unaware and it has happened to nearly all of us if you have ever been to a theme park we all appear in peoples vacation photos at some point or another. You do not see people wielding Model consent forms at Disney World which can be argued is "private property" So unless someone intends to use your image for commercial gain you might as well smile wide as their isnt a thing you can do about it. It comes down to the ethics of the Photographer. Tell us we "cant" and we will do just that. Ask us please do not most of us will respect that as we are not out to make anyone uncomfortable. The Orlando munch has posted NO CAMERAS...this reads to me please come with your camera and come in numbers. They did also forget to post NO VIDEO as two of my 5 cameras are Hybrids meaning Vid Still capable with 18 X built in Zooms.Very good though "should be moot" is a wish not the law.

If that's the case, why haven't you patronized the Woodshed and tried your marvelous idea?  If I recall correctly, you haven't been there or at minimum don't go often enough to recall what the charge is at the door.  Please do let us know how it turns out.

Nothing like a Dominant who just screams "I don't care about consent".  Lots of play time in your future, I'll bet.

gentle persuasion works with all but the most insensitive arseholes. Then you throw them out
Yes I ran a munch for four years, I also went to more than a few dozen others over a 6 year period.
A pleasant munch often deals with arseholes,  they dont tend to stay long

No, I think he's right. He should stay away from all restaurants, because some stranger might walk up and take his pic. I've been going to them for close to 50 years and I always, errr, I mean I sometimes, errr. Ok I have never seen this happen. But it could and that's what is important. Right?

WOW....Where to even start with that response...lets see my my my...alright I will start my ratcheting it down to something you can understand. Lets see here...The woodshed is a private club far as I understand it or can it be found in the yellow pages? I am not familar with how the woodshed is zoned as I am not one to go to poser clubs however I will look into if it is a legit business or underground from what I have heard there is not a big sign out front Welcome to the Wood Shed come get your freak on nor have I seen any advertisements for discount coupons in the local paper...but I will check and then I can better answer you as to how it would work out for me..A private club on private property can prevent anyone from taking photo's...Now if you get your READ on..you would have read that myself along with many other photographers would respect someone not wanting to be photographed..If I contacted another media source which deals in more of the tabloid paperazzi type phtography they would have no trouble with a button cam on their shirt and the club they visited would go viral if anything of interest would have happened police raid these clubs all the time over the years...there was one in kissimmee across from a skating rink that was raided and the owners faced some charges for having video cameras in the ceiling concealed they said for security. Now this couple was up and running for several years they were not lic. nor did they advertise either. Once the raid went down everyone of their friends turned on them Oh my GOD how DARE they video record US! doing what we were paying them to do live! should the owners of the club be held accountable for video recording for security and not commecial gain?should they have posted video security on premises? or do what they did and kept them descreatly out of site as to not make anyone uncomfortable? How do they win? How do they make everyone  happy? If it was an unlic. clown college they would not have been raided in the first place and the clowns would happily be making balloon animals. So do answer my questions and I will look into the wood sheds exact business lic. to see if I would be able to shoot in their or not. I do not have that answer I did not look into it but I will now. I will get back to you on the cans and cants.

Ok here's my opinion on the matter: I will *never* attend something synonymous with 'eat'. Cannibalization is a phobia of mine.

I may be paranoid.

No offense meant to anyone who likes them.

Yes, I can clearly see your ethics as can everyone else.

Camera toting asshats should be bent over a table and the camera shoved...somewhere...

I was used as a human interest story on the news once, closeups on tv without my consent or knowledge.  It was a very big camera, supposedly turned off.  No, I wouldn't have bothered with vaseline.

I'm not going to quote your incoherent post above.  (The bold makes it very difficult to read, as does your difficulty with sentence structure.)

The following information was taken from website for the Woodshed.

It is a private club.  While the address was not provided on the site, a phone number was.  Under their FAQ section, number 17 addresses photography.  Their policy is that there are no recording devices permitted during open hours.  If you rent the club privately during off hours, photo and video shoots are welcome.

Membership fees are twenty dollars per person.  Attending the club is a twenty dollar entrance fee.  (That clears up the earlier question about if there are different rates for males/females/couples.)

So, there are the answers.  It took Me less than five minutes through google.

Yes that is correct ask do not demand...Why anyone would think that photographers do not deserve to be respect like anyone else is beyond me...Give respect get respect.....give disrespect expect much of the same in return.....in your case I would be thanking the source who used you as a human interest story...they did not mistake you for a farm animal did they? Really they thought you were interesting? Well their goes your 15 minutes of fame!
