Okay, doing a search for tmp files, to see if I can spot one of those "logs".... there is one, it's 2,300 KB, wonder if I should delete it?

This depends on if you want to read it later, it might contain a nice story for bedtime later.

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:34:12 PM)

I shave my head [;)]

And EW and FullCircle, thanks for the help [>:][>:][>:][:D]

Okay, let's look for logs...

And I don't know if I could download anything, true. Yeeeeeeeesh.

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:35:49 PM)

That xDBD.tmp can be safely deleted. Its actually something listed on tech sites as spyware. And if my math is right, 2300 kb is almost 2 g's [:D]
Size does matter   or   every little bit counts!

most tmp files are safe to delete, but I'd rather we just find the ones in relation to Zone Alarm
(so you wont cuss me out if something else goes wrong)
Instead of searching for tmps. search for Logs.
As many as 10 folders may come up. Look in each yellow folder titled Logs for ZA.tmp ZA.txt
or anything ZA :)

Ps...you cant download updates...how can you download another program ? [:)]

Several have come up... ok.

Under "internet logs" folder, a bunch of ZA stuff, and "tvDebug" which was part of that ZA solution link, right?

Delete the whole folder? It's a whoooole bunch of 'em in there.

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:43:18 PM)

if all that is in there are the ZA files, then open the folder, select all, and delete.
Id keep the folder available though for future use. And of course, if this solves your issue,
copy the instructions for future use.
My fingers are crossed[:D]

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:43:22 PM)

Now, there are some non-ZA looking goobers there....

BACKUP.RDB
DUMPINDEX
?

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:44:41 PM)

Oy vey, teh suspense!! LOL

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:45:56 PM)

Only delete the ZA ones please. You can research those others later[;)]
And dont forget to empty the recycle bin too :)

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:49:21 PM)

Im nervous[:o]

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:49:49 PM)

Okay, it's gonna take awhile! There's stuff there from 2005!

Also found another log folder, there's only one item in it, "hcupdate", from 2008, looks like something from the HP help center, it's 1,043 kb.

*hugsssss ya for your help*

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:51:44 PM)

That hcupdate can go as well. Its from Trend Micro, a free virus scanner thingy.
Id also do a reboot once those stinking hogs are deleted completely.
Please keep us all posted if this resolved your issue.
**hugs back**

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:53:18 PM)

No way of selecting the ZA ones all at one time?? [:D]

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:54:16 PM)

You can right click in an empty area of the folder and arrange by name, then highlight multiples.
I love multiples[:)]

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:54:32 PM)

And one of the tvDebug..... tried to delete it and it said "another program was using it". Hmm.

Ok, poise, thank you, I didn't mean to keep you!

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:56:19 PM)

Im with you till the end!

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 6:59:27 PM)

Damn, that worked well [;)]

Off to dump the trash!

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 7:01:38 PM)

Well, still only 5.65 GB free space [:)] but my pc is running a lot quicker.

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 7:03:30 PM)

Yay! No stinking message about lack of disc space?

Level -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 7:05:41 PM)

No, no such message [;)]

But I still don't think the main hog has been uprooted...

poise -> RE: computer question (8/6/2010 7:07:06 PM)

Take a peek in your Add Remove Programs section. ( Settings - control panel )
Anything look like it doesnt belong?
