pahunkboy -> bad news. I must flea bomb the house (8/6/2010 7:52:18 AM)

I plan to do so during the weekend- before the humidity returned. I asked the neighbor- if I can hang at her place during that 2 hours.

Any hints for an effective bomb?

I will be using a 4 canister set.  Ooh ahh-  dollar store remedy $5.

or I could hire out- $316 to have it done.

If you have a basement or crawl space you have to bomb that too.

I once bombed and forgot the crawl. A week later all the flea's were back.

Seal up your cabinets and refrigerator.

Over bomb rather than under bomb.

and even if they say they are pet safe...I would find a place to remove pets to.

Also don't forget to spray down funirture (purple raid can) and vaccuum.

Make sure to get all the surfaces of carpet and furniture, then throw out the vaccuum bag!

Remember that not all bombs kill fleas in the larvae stage so you may need to do it again in several weeks.

The cat never goes in the basement.

there is carpet in the kitchen- so that is the worst room.    3 others rooms have hardfloor and then a oriental type rugs- not alot of rug space- but there is a couch and bed-   i want this done by Monday when the dismal weather returns.

PA, what happens is all the fleas flee to the basement then come back later.

(fleas flee, hahahahahaha)

Flea dont need carpet to surive.

I would treat every room even if the cat doesn't have acces that doesn't mean the flees haven't found their way in there. Make sure you treat your cat as well.

It is just me and one cat.    The cat is fine with being outside.   Tho I do have an enclosed back porch.

The cat was outside some last year- but this year I get nailed.

It is what it is.

Jeffff -> RE: bad news. I must flea bomb the house (8/6/2010 8:04:10 AM)

Bomb the porch too.

Bomb EVERYWHERE or you are just gonna have to do it again.

Hunkie,

Just because the cat hasn't been in the basement doesn't mean the fleas haven't.  As Jeff and his diddy about fleeing fleas pointed out,  they will head right towards the place that has no poison.

If you still have pets and plan on keeping them as part of your family, look into a product called Revolution as opposed to bombing the entire house. I thought I had to resort to "bombing" a few years back, and when I called the service to discuss it, I was told to try this medicine first. Its been 4 years now that we have been flea free.[:D]

Treat the cat to a good flea bath or two and collar (if the cat will tolerate it) before you let it back in the house. Good luck with the whole cat bathing thing, even the dry baths would get my eyes scratched out with my cat!

I dont think they made it upstairs.

Fleas will  die if there is no host to suck blood.

I doubt my cat wants to be treated.     oh-  one reason for them- the nights need to cool down to the 50s.

I think I was more upset at the food I just threw out- due to ants.   I mean there were IN the pack of crackers.

the box says 4 weeks -- that one might have to rebomb in  4 weeks.   that puts us into sept-so-   maybe one more bombing.

THIS!!!!!

And......always a good idea to spray the yard also. Otherwise they just come back in. On you, on the cat, on visitors...

Fleas are soooooooooooooooo much fun!

Jeffff -> RE: bad news. I must flea bomb the house (8/6/2010 8:16:53 AM)

Yeah but it's not an open 2000 sq ft.

Do what you want, but I will bet you a blow job and a new pair of shoes the fleas return is you skip any rooms and don't get your cat dipped.

Also, invest in some Frontline Plus.

Syrox -> RE: bad news. I must flea bomb the house (8/6/2010 8:18:46 AM)

Current;y got the same problem.. I@m looking for the hceap ass remidies though to get rid of them from the house without having to bomb the place with a load of chemicals.

servantforuse -> RE: bad news. I must flea bomb the house (8/6/2010 8:20:26 AM)

We had to do that 20 or so years ago. Our house is always spotless but even more so after we bombed. Every item was cleaned. Every utensil, dish, glasses, Everything. PA, listen to everyone here. Bomb the basement and porch. Do it right the one time, or do it all over again...
