Why would you not want to put your best assests out there (clothed) and let people decide on the Vanilla side first. That is where I would think it would start.

Add to this list pics of men in some chastity device, "action" shots and a display of someone's toy collection as a main photo.

No, none of the above appeal to me. In fact, I'd prefer no photo to these examples.

Neither do journals that are full of nothing but negative complaints about fakes and all the disappointments the writer has experienced on CM.

We must be on the same wavelength today, for at least part of this. 

Personally, I don't mind the "action" shots (as BFA mentioned) if we're talking about something like a nice rope bondage shot or something very artistically done with needles, I'm all for it.  The chastity device shot doesn't quite hit the bar there.

I have my profile set so that, when I am logged in, I only see female profiles..........or those that identify as female anyway. Now don't get me wrong, if I love a woman I am going to want to see all her bits, at some point, but I soooooooooooooooo do not want to see a photo of her vagina before I see or read anything, get to know her. I don't want to see a pair of purple, bound, breasts. And I don't care to see her asshole either. I place dick photos in that same category.

I should have clarified....by action shots I meant they're either on the giving or recieving end of something sexual.

Creative shots of bondage or needles are interesting so long as it's tasteful (a relative term, I know).

I don't read CM profiles and the other ladies echoed my sentiments on this subject quite well. I believe in simplicity and oftentimes the things I read say a whole bunch of nothing or try to spell out ones life story instead. I have always felt that the profile is and should be a snapshot. It is a delightful taste that compels a would be purveyor to make contact.

I like intelligence and articulation that isn't overly verbose. Tasteful images that highlight his attractiveness and masculinity. Presence is great if he can muster it and something of substance that separates him from the masses. I call that the proverbial why me statement.

Bonus points if he avoids pleading, detailed fantasies, overly romanticized notions about submission, grandiose promises, and the relocation statement when he doesn't know where you live. I often wonder if he's behind in his bills.

This is an interesting thread for me for one reason. A Domme I know thinks that I should include a nude body photo in my photo line up. Status: offline 		Would you mind a little unsolicited advice, Mike?  I think it's better to have that kind of a pic available if somebody asks for it.  Women who don't want to see that kind of shot won't be offended and those that do will be satisfied when you send it.

I tend to think that women who are more familiar (friend, etc) are more likely to want to see the goods than folks who aren't.  I know it's pretty long, but just take a look at the reactions through the "Men In Panties" thread that was running a while back.  The males that were well known from the forums got a great reception.  Many of the women from both sides of the whip paid complements.  When pics were posted of someone that wasn't known, nobody said a word except a Mod.  (Probably so he wouldn't get his feelings hurt.)  Not one other woman complimented that particular poster, even though he put up several shots, and he was pretty much ignored.

Just something to think about.

Status: offline 		M4a, yep they're My "dislike" list too. I really don't need that to be My introduction to someone! I'm also not partial to ones where they look really slovenly. Why would I want a guy like that around? He doesn't have to be in a tux ... but he could look neat and clean, with hair that looks like it's been washed recently! While I like a face photo I do understand why people can't always make that public (same reason I don't) but a tasteful clothed body shot, or a distant shot where the face isn't easily seen is good. Some nudes I have seen have been good, where the body is artfully arranged in a submissive posture and the bits aren't visible ... for eg, a side view of a low kneeling pose can be very tasteful. I am less upset by a bdsm action shot eg him in ropes as long as it's not too sexually graphic, it can give Me an impression of what he's interested in and at least shows that he really has played before and isn't an onscreen only! I too have written to some and explained why their choice of pic isn't a good idea, most have taken it well, the occasional one has become abusive in which case the BLOCK button is My friend!

There are a lot of exhibitionist GWCs on the internet. They like showing themselves off. I suppose it does something for then but it does nothing for me. Well lit portraits or tasteful nudes are more appealing to me.

What really does it for me is when a man can produce an image salute the way I want, because until I actually believe the user actually is the man in the photo, pictures, as pretty as they can be, mean little to nothing. Although the "what are you thinking" factor with the choices some make in their profile image posts serves as a great measure of first-impression common sense.
