subwaythru -> RE: Which- is better- chair or table? (8/10/2010 12:31:56 AM)

Come, now. While this depends largely upon the type of table to which we refer, tables are just all-around more versatible and accomodating than any chair. I enjoy envisioning a fine, square dining table, seating 6 comfortably, with extra leaves creating, in a pinch, room for 10 or 12, preferably of a superior grade mahogany. Chairs are so much more inexpensive than tables and may be acquired and installed without contacting that "friend with a pickup". A couple may dine at the table, sitting right on top with plenty of room for foot-dangling, or good little subs may truly be at Master's feet. The table is commodious enough to accomodate a pair comfortably for sleep, while providing room for a real spread for one, with an easy grip for clamps and binding, should the matter be, as it were, brought to the table. And I hardly need to add that the height and sturdiness of such a piece of furniture affords the finest in leverage and thrust, as proven by many a modern feature film. Weary of torture? Leave it to the table to beat a chair hands down for those spontaneous late night Monopoly tournaments. I can go on, and on, as well you know, but I think this time I will spare us all.
