Sanity -> RE: This isn't a good sign. (8/12/2010 8:06:56 AM)

For anyone still too obtuse to understand by now that the Democrats are in major trouble - From The Democratic Underground:

Public sees 'extended period' of unemployment for Obama aides

Whatever happened to Obamas "laser-like focus on jobs"

His laser has the power of a laser pointer used for presentations.

And dont forget that he wont rest until ______________ (fill in your favorite Obama failure). He must be one tired dude, because he couldnt have had a wink of sleep for 644 days

Based in turn on the latest news from the fed and the this weeks job report taz.

The economic outlook is really grim, especially considering how all the mind boggling debt that the Democrats have plunged us into was supposed to have turned this thing around by now. Its becoming glaringly obvious this White House team doesnt have the foggiest idea whats happening in this crisis or what theyre up against, yet their faithful (you) continue to sing their praises...

Hopefully the choir has bronchitis on 11/2 so the GOP can begin to turn things around.

tazzygirl -> RE: This isn't a good sign. (8/12/2010 8:28:06 AM)

Im not singing anything. Nor am i slamming a man who has no clue what path to take. NOR does anyone else. Its really easy to preach from the cheap seats. The Dow is back up. Businesses are hoarding money and making, yet again, record profits. Unemployment has stabilized. Nope, its not great.

But it could be a hell of alot worse.

Funny how you deny youre a blind partisan for Obama then dive right into the official talking points.

The Dow is back up somewhat because it was oversold due to the panic created by Obamas economic fearmongers. If you havent noticed its headed south again. The only thing propping it up is some optimism that he's shot his load come 11/2 and talk by the Dems of extending the Bush tax cuts.

and no, it couldnt be much worse if a spawning salmon were setting economic policy.

Dow Jones Industrial Average(DJI: ^DJI)

52wk Range: 9,078.28 - 11,309.00

Index Value: 10,338.80

Yup... a hard downturn. And July was one of the worst months for the Dow too.

Stocks close with best month in a year
After choppy July, Dow rises 7.1 percent for month

Maybe he walks on his hands?

willbeurdaddy -> RE: This isn't a good sign. (8/12/2010 11:42:38 AM)

And this is a very bad sign:
Re Stater Bros markets:

"For the 13-week quarter net income fell 60.3% to $6 million, while sales declined 3.1% to $900 million and same-store sales dropped 1.2%; for the 39-week year-to-date period net income was down 37.3% to $18.7 million, while sales dropped 3.9% to $2.7 billion and same-store sales fell 2.2%."

For those who arent from CA, Stater Bros is the largest privately owned supermarket in CA, and is generally seen as the lowest cost full service grocer outside of Costco and a few Walmart superstores. They increased market share substantially by not being struck in 2004. If their same store sales are continuing to fall, it is a bleak sign for the CA economy, a bellweather for the national economy.

And they are unique to California......gov't by popular vote,as it applies to the tough decision necessary for a state such as California is a disaster....and will continue to be so.

Agree on the latter. On the former, there is a time-lapse map of the recession somewhere on the net. Take a look at its progression. And note a said "A" bellweather, not "the only bellweather". There are plenty of other bad signs.
