Multiple Profiles For One User

I don't think multiple profiles should be allowed.

I think a person should have as many profiles as they want.

I understand a switch who wants a Dom and a sub profile.

I understand a pro who wants a professional and personal profile.

I deleted my first profile after almost a year because I didn't want to be stalked anymore. The 2nd one was created as a new identity but i never snuck around with it. If someone communicated with me that I knew and wasn't worried about, then I told them about the original nic. This one is obvious, new Dom, my choice to make a profile for that relationship, but I've included it in my sig line and the 2nd profile is hidden and will remain so.

I don't see much need for more than one profile in the forums, but I can see a number of uses for more than one profile on the other side. For instance, I know a Domme that lives in Portland, Oregon but would like to move to either California or Florida if she could find the right reason (person) for moving. However, you can't post your profile in more than one area at a time. She hasn't done so, but she could have a different profile in each of the three areas and bolster her chance of finding what she is looking for in one of those areas that way.

And as has been mentioned a Pro/lifestyler could have one profile for each that way, the same with a person that is a switch.

I actually have 2 profiles here, but it's because all of a sudden, my password stopped working, and support couldn't help me figure out why. I've noticed that that's happened to quite a few folks here over the time I've been here....I've never been banned, or moderated, so it wasn't anything from that.

Someone using two or more profiles here in the forums shouldn't be done......not that it really matters to me...sooner or later, you recognize the style, no matter what they call themselves.

I felt the need for a name change a couple months ago. I note my old screen name in my sig line and have no problem letting people know when they write to me. Yesterday I tried for the third time to close my CarrieO account...if this doesn't work I'll just contact support, no worries as I have it hidden.

I have noticed some recent multiples on the forums lately. I think it's funny...they may change their name but their MO still shines through.

What if it's neither of those things-more an acknowledgement that you're a multifaceted person? I'm not sneaky-I'm open about having multiple accounts, and I have never and would never use an old account to back myself up in the forums. I'm not having an identity crisis-I know who I am (or at least as far as anyone my age does). It's just that I don't feel like all the parts of me can be represented in a single profile.

I guess I would just be puzzled and curious....... I see ALL people as being multi faceted and complex. Yet, I don't know a single soul, in person, that has to have different identities to express all their facets. I can only look at the subject through my own filters. I know myself and how complex I am. If not for the obvious stupidity of doing so, I would use the same 'me' here as I do at work, at home, everywhere. I expect those that care about me to accept all my facets, even if they don't understand them. If someone cannot accept all of me, then I view it as their problem, not mine. It is up to them to filter out what they don't like. A sort of, 'don't ask and I won't tell'.

It confuses me because, what you describe makes me think of a person with multiple personality disorder....... completely different names and personas. I guess I just cannot relate to that. It feels somehow deceitful and fearful. As though you fear that someone that knows you as xyz, would not accept the facet of you that is abc.

I used to have a couples profile which lasted about 4 or 5 years. I decided to get a solo one because I had a feeling something was happening and I need to strike out on my own. So this is my profile. The couples profile was deleted a few months later.

I have another profile. It's blank, I've never posted under it, and I've no idea why I made it. I think I just liked the name and wanted to snag it.

It is definitely silly to be so driven to be right, and your views supported, that you have to bring out the alter egos.

I kept my profile when I had to leave because of a stalker of a few years. I simply created a new profile and continued on after I moved and changed everything else. I was here, but most didn't know it. Only a couple friends.

I've used the profile once to test someone I thought was lying to me before things got much deeper between us. (He was in person too.) That bitch stole my man!

I won't feel guilty for that one. Nope... no matter what. I sometimes would like to use that one rather than this one. I have never used it on the boards when Lockit was active.

It doesn't bother me when people do because they tend to tell on themselves.
