My God, can you imagine the crap that people woud post if there was no way to ever drag them on to the carpet?

You mean three quarters of the board isn't posting ridiculous mind-numbing drivel already?

If I could post anonymously, would I? I don't think so. I believe you should be able to stand for your convictions.
The post count and join dates under an avatar are useful to me, because I factor that in along with the opinion being expressed. If person A comes on to cm and then constantly changes their profile, it tells you something about them and their integrity (I'm not talking about people who have technical issues for changing profiles).

It may tell you something about that person, but surely it shouldn't affect the validity or not of their comments?

I don't reject their comments automatically, but I might look at the comment(s) more skeptically.

When and what I post on the world stage, let alone Collarme.com, I am me, truthful and honest, what I say is the truth as I see it at the time, and yes, my face is also posted here with my comments, so anyone can see who I am in all honesty.

Those that hide behind avatars, why are they hiding, why don't they want anyone to look upon their face when reading their comments, what are they afraid of ?

I think bondage.com has no moderation (certainly nothing close to the moderation here) and it's nothing but a mud fight there.

Ya I know :)

@Domig, in my imagined theoretical system moderation would remain just the same as it is now....and there are many forums with anonymous posting, those dedicated to politics have, if anything, significantly higher standards of debate IMO. Have ya noticed the crap posted here already? I figure it's the reduced self-censorship encouraging  mass abuse of the stupider/trolling posts...making them much rarer....although good moderation also does it in many cases.

Afraid? I have never seen it in that light. I rather like the mystery of not knowing what some people look like. Domiguy for instance........I still see a dead rapper with killer eyes. (but I secretly wonder what he really looks like...)

I never assume that, because a person does not display a clear face photo they are afraid. Perhaps they are insecure about their appearance. Perhaps their owner/master/mistress has requested they remove or not post a photo. Perhaps they have a job, or other life issue, that makes it sensitive. OR, perhaps they are like me, have photos on the other side, but saw an avatar they liked over here and stuck with it!

Why would you possibly think that your own life, viewpoints and need for anonymity would be mirrored by everyone else on the internet? That's just absurd.

Personally, I'm not hiding anything. Those are actually my legs. As far as face pics, I'd just rather not have them here. I've shared them privately with those who matter, or those who have asked. An avatar is just an avatar, something to represent yourself. People who choose to be obscure about their physical self are simply making a choice to do so based upon their own reasons; it could be a job their concerned about or family or whatever.

To answer the OP.... No, I wouldn't post under an anonymous name, afterall, I'm already anonymous....I just happen to be regular anonymous poster, except to the few who know me personally.
