Well, I most certainly agree with that comment, however, it seems the herd mentality has found fertile ground and place of belonging. I have seen topics introduced that stretched well beyond the typical ego stroking sarcasms of many and offer opportunity to cause a broader base of understanding but the purest of the D/s practitioners never venture into a topic that would be causal of enlightenment. Perhaps it is... the inquireing mind rush in where the purest and all knowing of D/s fear to tread.

Perhaps some are just bitter that people who lived a long time without learning respect or insight seem to think that on account of being physically repulsive, they have the right to insult female dommes. The world is just not fair, in an ideal world, the physically and mentally repulsive would find tops, but alas, it isn't so. So learn to live with it without being a pain in the proverbial.

Kurt,
I'm not quite sure what it is that you are trying to accomplish by this post.  It sounds like you are reprimanding people for not having the same tastes that you do.  That's both arrogant and ignorant.

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.  So is "interesting".  Who is to say what would be "causal of enlightenment"?

I have written plenty of things here on CM that have gotten absolutely no response.  Zero.  But I never take it personally.  I don't attribute it to people not being as enlightened as I am.  I merely chalk it up to not satisfying the particular thirst of the audience at that time.  Nothing more, and nothing less.

What you're doing is akin to an author who writes a book and then complains because nobody buys it.  Sure, it may have been a great book in the author's opinion.  But the buying audience obviously disagreed.

If you want to see this site "bring enlightenment", then please post something that is enlightening.  What I just read from you is non-enlightening whining.

I'm sure that you are capable of much more than that.  Although with a post count of only 39, it looks like you have been rather stingy in sharing your enlightenment.

I'm sure that you have probably been a member of this board under different user names, so you have probably contributed more than 39 posts.  My point is not to focus on your post count.  Rather, it is to (hopefully) get you to look inwardly.  If you want the board to be enlightening, then bring enlightenment.

That is all.

Is that how you think of it? That if a post doesn't get a reply it must be somehow unsatisfying?

Because you've rarely ever written a post that I haven't got *some* sort of satisfaction from-you make me think, or you make me laugh, or you confirm my beliefs (let's face it, that's everyone's favourite :P), but I don't tend to read posts from you and think 'meh'.

Obviously I don't reply to every post you make. If I replied to all the posts that scratched an itch I'd never have time to do anything else. And I can't be the only one that's true for...

I agree with Roch.

Some of my best shit gets ignored. I shrug and move on.

I am betting that you ARE getting a reaction, it's just that no one is actually TYPING it. I know I have gotten some serious lulz out of you but not said so on the boards. I have also said, "damn, he must be drunk or something", but not typed that, either. [;)]

. . . And some people will say things that are balanced, fair and complete.  There's nothing to disagree with and nothing to add, so all one does is just nod and move on from that point.

Or, one can quote the entire post, then follow it with just the word 'This.' (which, I have to say, I avoid doing because it irritates the pants off me when I see it).

I really don't think many have it. They just want it to seem like a fashionable ailment so you'll feel left out. [;)]

Nobody going to quote my post and add just the word 'This.', then?

I'm still lost as to how a person is able to tell.  Is it on threads they create, comments within threads that other people create, does what the person types next have to say "in reply to" or do they have to be quoted specifically?

People really have time for this?

Thanks ladies.  However, I did not accurately depict what I think when nobody replies to my threads.  I was really focusing on Kurt Allen's message, and was not trying to accurately describe how I feel when nobody responds to my threads/comments.  The paragraph that you responded to is a bit confusing when taken in isolation from the entire post.  Sorry for the confusion.

Well, LittleSarbonn sure does! So I guess, yeah they do. Me, I don't have time.

Icarys -> RE: If There Were Fewer Drive By's (8/15/2010 7:49:32 PM)

For the purpose of this discussion, I am going to roughly define a drive by as the following:

A random post by those who we are not very familiar with on this board who wants to discuss his kinks/wants/sexual desires with the expectation that we will automatically respond even though we don't know him.  Also known as wanker posts or some other term where the focus is on what turns on the originator of the thread.  Perhaps falling into the "how many of you are into X kink activity" that is discouraged in the Frequently Asked Question section.

Using that rough definition, would you post about your kinks, turn-ons, or sexual desires more if there were fewer drive by posts in this section?

In My opinion, I think more of us would.  I tend to believe that women talk more openly about the topics of our desires when we feel it is a safe environment to do so.  We are more likely to be open about our thoughts when we are in a situation that we know our comments are not going to be exploited in some way.  For example, there are some of us that will have a night out with just the gals where we'll talk about some thought or idea that turns us on, but we might not discuss the subject if there is someone that we don't know all that well or if we're in mixed company.

After being a member of this forum for a few years, I think back on some of the threads that we have had in the past on a variety of subjects.  I do notice that fewer of us talk about our kinks, etc now than what we used to.  Is it the drive by type of threads that have played a part in that change?  Do you think it is something else?  Is it simply because some of the forum regulars that we used to have are no longer here and the ones that we have now aren't interested in more kink centered discussions?  I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

A whine by any other name is still a whine.

Jeffff -> RE: If There Were Fewer Drive By's (8/15/2010 7:55:03 PM)

Really?... you thought that was a whine?

I didn't see that.

I thought it was a well thought out post asking for opinions on her thoughts.

Yes I do Jeffff. She has highbrow whine or finewhine if you will but it's still whine.

Jeffff -> RE: If There Were Fewer Drive By's (8/15/2010 7:59:35 PM)

We will have to disagree on that.

ALmost anything becomes a whine if that's what you are looking for.
