Actually, it's very much what happens when I've attended sigs in the past that were Domme/sub only. There are also boards on other sites that have the distinction of avoiding the matter by being exclusive. However, I am not familiar enough with the history (long term) of those groups to know if there has ever been such an obvious shift as has been seen here. For such a shift to happen, even within My own considerations, I don't think it is due to a singular occurance. I believe it's multiple factors. Even in saying so, I tend to think that, among those multiple factors that some have a higher importance than others. As a person who is very priority/level of importance oriented, it is natural to Me to wonder how other people value their reasoning.

I do have to agree with you on that LP, I think that the boards should have been split TOP/BOTTOM and avoided the gender issue entirely. I really have no idea how to keep the Goreans in their own zone. Granted, I think some people do that just to piss in the cheerios of a particular thread. Some posters just have a habit of doing such. Usually, you can tell the person's intent by their contribution. Do they really want to discuss the topic or do they have an ulterior motive? While I absolutely say that either gender has a right to speak on either board, there really are some folks who have more of a contribution than others. That's just the way it is sometimes from individual to individual.
