Status: offline 		It depends on the fabric and size of the ribbon. I made all my daughter's overly elaborate halloween costumes (think giant tutu's with ginormous bows EVERY year!) and never had much trouble with it. I have a pretty basic crappy sewing machine so I always had to be careful with silkier fabric because it could slip and get knotted up easier.

Status: offline 		It's 95 percent cotton and 5 percent spandex, but from now on hopefully it'll be 100 percent cotton.

The ribbon is pretty much your small normall ribbons actually if you put it against the bottom hem of a t shirt it's that wide.

Status: offline 		I would say that regular thread is okay, but it's the PRESSER foot you might want to look at. I think ribbon looks better with the stitching very close to the edge, and a zipper foot makes it easier to see the edge.

i agree...but if it is a thin trim, a zigzag stitch with exact matching thread might work. I like this because it prevents the ribbon from folding over...

Ah, see when you do it RIGHT in the little ditch next to the selvedge... LOL!! yeah, I HATE sewing but I can do it.

Status: offline 		Yes, I would sew right along the edge, so close to it, that you're almost off to ribbon. It does indeed look better that way, and I'll be choosing a thread and a bobbin to sew with of the same color as the ribbon, so a purple ribbon would be purple thread an bobbin. A red, a blue, a black? same thing.

Status: offline 		a zipper presser foot has metal on one side of where the needle thrusts... and penetrates... and ribbons for tieing.... and um  ... where was I?

oh yes.. on one side of where the needle goes up and down.  it should be in the accessory kit for your machine.
