Am i the only one that thinks there is something seriously wrong with these two?

The Duggars: We're Open to Having a 20th Child

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have always been open about their willingness to have children. But when the devout Baptists and stars of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting faced the catastrophic aftereffects of their 19th child's premature birth, many assumed they might be done.

But now the couple – who only recently brought baby Josie home after being hospitalized for six months as she recovered from a perforated bowel and rare digestive problems – say they are ready to consider a 20th child.

"Our family is stronger than ever," Jim Bob, 45, tells PEOPLE in its new issue. "We made it through the storm."

That's not to say that everything has been easy with baby Josie. Born early after Michelle developed preeclampsia (pregnancy-induced high blood pressure), Josie was just 8 days old when a perforated bowel threatened her life.

"When she first came home, I couldn't sleep at all," says Michelle, 43. "That was the scariest part for me, having the full responsibility of her care on my shoulders ... It was intimidating."

Similarly daunting are the very real medical risks Michelle could face with another pregnancy – particularly a return of preeclampsia, which can lead to a stroke or prove fatal. But despite the risk – and intense criticism – the pair vow to stick to their beliefs.

"People think we are overpopulating the world," says Jim Bob. "We are following our convictions."

When will these people realize that the vagina is NOT a clown car?[>:]

Housewife: "I have seven children."
Groucho: "Seven? That many?"
Housewife: "Well, I love my husband."
Groucho: "I love my cigar, too, but I take it out once in a while."

Lockit -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 6:42:53 PM)

Convictions? When do convictions and standing by them mean risky behavior? We stand by our conviction to produce as many times as god or nature bring forth... but we don't stop to think of nineteen motherless children and how daddy might replace mommy with that many 'convictions'.

Sometimes people have some pretty silly convictions. Sometimes others pay for them.

PS... love the vagina - clown car comment! ROFL!

hahahahaha

I think having kids must be their crack.  I think they're nuts, if for no other reason than changing diapers year after year after fucking year.

I am not a breeder, but I AM a great advocate for children, and the way the media glamorizes octomom and families like this one absolutely repulses me. You cannot tell me that these children are getting everything they need from their parents. If they are eating, it is because they are getting monies from this show.

Do NOT get me started on Jon and Kate. Those people HAD TWO CHILDREN and felt the need for fertility treatments??

littlewonder -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 6:54:31 PM)

For me this isn't all that unusual..it's actually pretty common where I grew up. I knew of many families that had 15 children or more naturally, my father's parents being one of them, even one that had 23.....all naturally. Yes the wife had health conditions which probably should have stopped her from having more but as the Duggars said they stood by their religious convictions that if she gets pregnant again then God will provide and they will do whatever they have to do to care for that child even if that means endangering her health or even death.

I don't think they're saying they will purposefully get pregnant again but that it's probably inevitable that they will again being she's quite fertile and they seem to enjoy sex.  I think that if it's their belief system then so be it. I personally don't have a problem with it. But like I said I grew up around religion and beliefs so it's not that strange or shocking to me.

juliaoceania -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 7:00:12 PM)

My question is, can they afford it? Do they provide adequately for existing kids? If the answer is "yes" to those questions, let them procreate...

My mom was the youngest of 11 and my dad the middle child of 5, it is not something modern people usually do, but hell, as long as I am not paying for it what do I care

KMsAngel -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 7:02:34 PM)

there are some people who should have stopped at 1 because they can't take care of the one they have. by all published accounts, this couple has no problem raising their children without masses of government assistance. and they appear to be raising lovely, generous, good hearted children. there situation would nver be MY situation, but as everyone is so fond of saying, "YKIMK".

kiwisub12 -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 7:04:51 PM)

As far as i can tell with this family all the parents do is make the kids - the other children do the actual parenting.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 7:07:02 PM)

The community helps out a lot with clothing an toys an other stuff. I've seen the episodes where they say church people just leave bags and bags of donations by their car, and that and being very, very frugal is how a lot of their needs like toys , and clothing are provided for.

Here is the thing, that is the way it works in large families... I see nothing wrong with kids helping with their siblings. In fact if you ask the kids they probably love the large family they have and feel part of something much larger than themselves. Large families ROCK and are almost extinct in the USA

I am ABSOLUTELY REPULSED by referring to a human being as a "breeder," while others have been elevating puppies and kittens to the status of "BABIES." Many homosexuals refer to heterosexuals as "breeders" to denigrate them, and try to lower them to the level of animals.

Human beings are not "bred." Dogs, cats, cattle, etc, are "bred." Human infants are "babies." No other animal has that term. PERIOD.

My God, how utterly depraved to misdescribe human beings and animals in this fashion.

The only people I have ever heard use the term breeder has been straight and it wasn't used as a slam. I've never heard it used to lower someone to the level of animals before. Not sure where you got this from?

KMsAngel -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 7:12:06 PM)

y'know, i can't actually find a great deal of fault with that. back in the day, when mom was out in the field getting the crops in, milking the cows, making the butter, the older children would look after the younger ones. and when they grew up, they knew how to run a house, and raise a child. and that child learned in turn.

how many of the last few generations can say they had ANY idea on how to raise children, much less successfully keep a house? i was 3rd of 8, i helped to raise the younger of my siblings. i was in a much better spot on raising children (although in my parent's case, how NOT to raise a child in some respects), and housekeeping than many of my peers.

my children's generation of peers? they don't know how to raise a plant, much less a child. and budgeting? you're joking!!

frankly, i think these kids appear to be getting a good grounding in many aspects of life, and have a well rounded education in life, not just schooling.

Jeffff -> RE: they want ANOTHER baby? (8/14/2010 7:13:24 PM)

I have had homo's call me a breeder..... we both laughed.

I don't recall. But use google with the following search terms: homosexual breeders heterosexuals, and one of the first entries is - - - -

Breeder (slang)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJump to: navigation, search
Breeder is a term of disparagement used primarily by homosexuals to describe heterosexuals who have produced or will produce offspring.

The use in homosexual groups is drawn from the fact that their sexual activity cannot lead to reproduction, whereas heterosexual sexual intercourse can, with implicit mocking by connotation of animal husbandry, the original usage of the word.[1][2]

"Breeder" can be used as a derogatory term by childfree people of any sexual orientation to refer to parents who focus on their children and abandon their previous friends and lifestyle, or to women who give birth to many children. The phrases "breeder, not parent" (BNP) or "parent, not breeder" (PNB) are used by some childfree communities to differentiate between what they regard as positive and negative parenting.[3]

the kids cook, clean, do the laundry, and each older child has a younger one to care for.

Mom home schools the kids, and Dad holds church services every Sunday...giving them a nice tax break.

My thoughts...Dad needs neutered or Mom needs tied. There is a 25% higher risk for Mom to have an eclamptic pregnancy after the first occurrence. They are risking leaving 19 without a mother? Flame away...but these two are self-centered and have no right to risk leaving those kids without their mom.

But one has to wonder if the kids even KNOW their mother.
