People!

Show some patience to those who are new.

Jumping down the throat on the least little thing is poor sportsmanship.

The regulars know the different personalities- but not so with a newbie.

WELCOME to the new people, BTW.

Something to think about.

I don't think they are.

I DO think some are in a hurry and overly sensitive, perceiving slights were none exist.

I agree with MM.

Plus, I am quite often oblivious to how new someone is or not. It doesn't matter to me either way. If I read the words that tell me "Putz!" I am going to reply accordingly. A new putz isn't going to get any more slack than a retread.

In the timeframe of this morning- they are.

We want participation.   This morning- the board has been overly cliquish.

Pa...i rarely see it.

And sportsmanship? This is not a game, nor a competition.

I think you mischaracterize honest disagreement with being snubbed.

It's something adults learn to deal with, pahb. Come on. Seriously.

I don't notice newcomers being snubbed at all.  I don't know if you could call me a regular.  I get tired and disappear for month's and sometimes years.  Yet I have been here since day one of the boards.

I also don't know how the "regulars" think and react to certain things.  I just plain don't pay attention.  It is a rare occurrence when I notice an individual.  When I do I follow their words and writing.  Most of those I have followed have long since went onto greener pastures.

Very rarely happens to someone who doesn't show immediate assholishness in some form or another. Or is trolling for their throat to be filled.

So...  it's also unsporting to expect patience when you don't deserve it.

Then a few here are way too uptight today.

A new person is not privy to the months of dialogue on some of our more heated topics.

The mosque poll and the i see thread in random are the 2 threads I note.  I think there was one in off topic too.

PA.......your filters are not my filters. Yours are being far more sensitive. I've seen nothing 'heated'.

Besides, this isn't Romper Room and we don't need to coddle the new kids.

So, I've got to ask you, is it today?  Are you sure people aren't just who they are period?  You started a thread about the mosque at ground zero going up.  People have been debating that heated for month's now.

What did you expect?  No debate?  Even though the entire country is in a debate at the moment.

I'm not privy to the other mosque threads.  I am privy to those I am in on other sites.

First, I'm going to ask how you are defining "snubbed".  Are the threads not being answered?  Are we talking about threads that are darn near impossible to answer?  Mabye those that are asking for too much intimate detail?

If you can give Me some examples of what you are basing the comment on, I will be more than happy to reply.

I think you have the Hall Monitor jacket on today hunky and believe me, it's not a good fit on you.

If we had any more Muslim/mosque threads the CIA will be knocking on our door about 'increased chatter'.

Let the newbies be newbies. Learning curves work.

Oh shit, I shouldn't have mentioned the CIA.

Hard to say. I felt like the Egyptian guy was treated badly. But I've also seen newbies screw up and make posts blasting their Doms behind their backs and get off easy. It probably balances out.

Steven, I do have to say that I disagree with you in that particular case.  I elaborated as to why on the other thread.

Now that I have a better handle on the example of what brought this thread (I went and looked at the "I See" thread), I don't think it's a case of jumping on "new" people.  I really don't see any difference between the sections if someone is going to throw their personal ad/what they are looking for on the forums.  The site has guidelines up that say the forums isn't the place for it.  That should be sufficient since the information is available.

In Politics section- one expects a slug fest.

But less of a slug  fest in random and off topic.

A new person does not necessarily know the intros is the place to run an ad.

not everyone on here is automatically adversarial.   even if they blurt out what you think is a dumb post.

If you stop slugging, you might see that the slug fest isn't there.
