It's a bad omen. But it's not like anyone doesn't know FOX and the WSJ editorial page are rapidly right--or like they could move any further right.

You are completely mistaken.

They are "fair and balanced", unlike the liberal media bias.

the teachers union gave to the democrats close to 51 million for the 2008 election.

I was curious, so I looked it up.

You are way off. Take a look at the chart.

Note that it covers a 20 year period, not a single election.

Maybe your next thread should be about how unions spend millions every year supporting democrats.

This from the guy who retired with benefits that were won by the union.

Yep,and as a fellow CWA member/retiree I find that highly curious.....of course the simple and obvious answer is that he has gotten his.....and fuck anyone else.

Why should Rupert Murdock be denigrated for supporting a political party ? Why is is bad for him and not for the unions ?

Lordandmaster -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/18/2010 9:15:30 PM)

A, because the donation came from News Corp, not Rupert Murdoch personally, and B, because unions aren't pretending to offer "fair and balanced news coverage."

Because he is not a US citizen or resident? I distinctly remember cons having a big problem with foreigners donating money to political campaigns back around 1996.

Hmmm. I wonder if that has anything to do with the Democrat President stating that Fox wasn't a legitimate news organization. Maybe, ya think?

I agree with that. Sadly neither is MSNBC.

Both have forsaken actual reporting for agendas

But I don't give a glimmer of a fuck who donates to who, so long as it is done within the law.
Oh, I think he was behind the curve when stating that, most of us knowed that right off, years ago, even in the Bush years and before,  without his patently obvious statement.

Musicmystery -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/19/2010 9:32:06 AM)

TV abdicated news for entertainment decades ago.

The only difference is the agenda, but it's still empty crap.

And now for a word from Sen Al Franken, before he was a US Senator

“The biases the media has are much bigger than conservative or liberal. They're about getting ratings, about making money, about doing stories that are easy to cover.”

Television news died the day "Uncle Walter" retired, been a long slow slide into irrelevance ever since.

FOX isn't a legitimate news organization.

They are a propaganda tool and always have been.

The problem began with FOX.

MSNBC is the liberal reply.

Jeffff -> RE: News Corp (Fox News owners) donate to GOP (8/19/2010 12:50:31 PM)

I agree. It is a reply brought on by ratings.

I imagine the folks who head up MS NBC took a look at Fox' rating and thought, " FUCK we need to get some of that!"

It doesn't make it right.

CNN has stared doing it now too. It all blows.

You should.

What's happening here is that the free press is no longer free.  It's being controlled by corporate interests.

Maybe that has always been the case to a certain degree, but not this blatantly.

rulemylife -> The oil is gone. All is well. Nothing to see here. (8/19/2010 1:21:53 PM)

Yeah, no conflict of interest there, huh?

GE, which owns MSNBC, gave equal amounts to both major parties.

It's a bad omen. But it's not like anyone doesn't know FOX and the WSJ editorial page are rapidly right--or like they could move any further right.
