So this broad is going to blame the FCC and her sponsors who dropped her for her choice to leave radio. Does she think obscenity on the radio is okay? Where was she when Howard Stern was fined repeatedly for exercising his freedom of speech... this twit doesn't even merit being called a twat.

Now she is walking back her comments on blaming Americans that do not want to hear her foul mouth and blaming them for her sponsors dropping her, and is saying she planned on leaving radio anyways[8|]

Hallelujah! I will be so glad to never risk hearing that self-righteous bitch again. Let's just all stay cool though. We don't want to get her fans defensive and riled up to the point that she exercises her right to change her mind. If she needs to feel like a victim to make it all happen, that's fine with me.

I think Stern is funny, but it comes across as completely hypocritical when he criticizes her statement about First Amendment rights.

That was exactly the same reasoning he used for abandoning free radio for a more lucrative contract with Sirius.

Actually, he is saying no one jailed her or fined her... getting blow back because people do not like what you say isn't something he has whined about. Being censored is what he has whined about. He has been censored. He has been fined....where has she had either thing happen to her?

Dr Laura, never had my respect, I place her complaints about how the sponsors and such abandoned her in the same folder with the complaints of the Dixie Twits compliants about how their fans gave them some blow back based on their statements.

As far as I know, Dr Laura has not been threatened with her life

You're not willing to stipulate to that as general knowledge?

If I knew the real numbers it wouldn't be a fair bet making question now would it?
I'm willing to gamble that Dr Laura collected in her 15-20 years as a radio talk show host far more death threats than the Dixie Chicks did for their one controversial episode.

I have never heard about it, no... never

I am not saying it never happened, but the hatred and vitriol spewed at the Dixie Chicks made my head spin. I was worried for them. It was a pretty tense time in the USA and I really thought someone might do them in with the CD burns, etc, that were going on...

Well today's stories have her saying she is receiving death threats.

I know that Rush talks on air about the fact that he receives them daily, I know that Hanity has discussed the number of death threats he has received in many interviews, I know that Neal Bortz talks about the death threats he receives as being almost daily. I would assume that Dr Laura's audience is sufficiently large.

I would assume that any political commentator right or left would receive them daily if they have a sufficiently large audience.
Now all of the stories I have heard about them do say flatly that 90% + of them are dismissed as just folks blowing off steam with no real threat to be concerned about, but they do spend money to evaluate the threats and sometimes the threats are real.

I bet Alan Colmbs gets them daily as well, I know he said something about them being pretty standard faire for him as well.

I have received death threats over the internet because of different groups I have belonged to. I also had a vindictive person release my personal information, including my real physical address, because she did not like my views on the Green Party (she was a democrat) to people that had threatened me...

You do not have to be on talk radio to get them is my point..

And as someone that has received death threats for my political activism I half expect that. I wouldn't if I were just a country western singer. I think that is the biggest difference. It would be like giving a death threat to Ted Nugent, and even he probably would deserve it more

Now don't get me wrong I don't think death threats are cool for any of them.

My position though was if you complain about blowback you get from statements you make publicly using your notoriety as a vehicle to advance your views. I'm gonna laugh at you, regardless of the political bent, regardless of the industry you are in. You're an adult, you opened your mouth and made a statement that you knew could be controversial, you gotta face the fact that some folks are gonna be offended and let you know that.

That said Death Threats are carrying things too far regardless of how distasteful you find the other party.

I saw what Natalie Maines said as a gut reaction to what was happening... for Christ's sake, we invaded a country that was no threat to us. I was ashamed of our government too. Now she took that emotion and she made a comment on stage. I do not think that is the same thing as Ms Cunt Mouth saying the N word 6 times because she has a political point to make.... seriously
