And in the summer that's mega important.

I also like rice salads with leftover rice. Whatever veggies you have around, some parsley, salt, pepper and some vinaigrette. You can really stretch your meals this way and only have to have a hot kitchen once.

Ok, so we've had rice and I have put Mary's pizza shack ranch in it, an it was tasty! But then mary's made ranch always is.

I don't flavour rice. I also don't flavour potatoes and other stuff as I prefer to taste it how mother nature did it. I might eat it with sauce sometimes but that still gives me the option to have parts of the rice just plain. I also don't really use salt on my food as I just don't think its necessary, so needless to say, sometimes folks ask for salt when I serve my food [8|]

What would cooking the rice in soy milk instead of water do to help flavor it, or would it just make a mess?

What is IN soy milk, anyway? I think it would not be as good as just cooking it in chicken broth, myself, unless maybe you were doing Indian food.

Chicken stock with saffron and toasted black mustard seeds.

Can I eat dinner at your house?

Well soy bean, an then I guess it depends on the brand of soymilk.

My absolutely favorite way to flavor rice is with a little butter, some minced fresh cilantro and freshly squeezed lime juice. Sometimes I saute a bit of garlic in the butter first too.

Basmati rice, 1 cinnamon stick, 2 bay leaves, 4 green cardamon pods, 4 black peppercorns, salt to taste. Some times i might also chop up some onion and gently cook it in olive oil for a few minutes before adding everything else.

I throw in a couple of succulent Asians for that added crunch.

What?
