~FR~ Yes, you can. Like Steven said, it's NOT easy. Do a search for induced lactation or forced lactation. There are multiple sites on the internet re: that and also multiple threads on collarme re: that. I've been attempting it myself and it's.....kind of.....working. Even menopausal women have been known to produce milk in limited quantities...prolactin is a pituitary hormone, not an ovarian hormone. Also, if a woman is on extra estrogen, either birth-control pills or estrogen replacement, that can interfere with it. Estrogen itself does not promote lactation, but estrogen withdrawal does by raising prolactin levels. Rubbing progesterone cream or wild yam cream directly on the breasts can promote the growth of more alveoli which are prolactin receptors. Fenugreek is an herb that's supposed to help with milk production. Also, frequent stimulation of the breasts is important, either by hand or by your partner suckling. Some helpful links are http://www.landmilkhoney.com/herbsdrugs.htm and http://stargatelibraries.com/PossibleToInduce.html. I'm finding out via experimentation, trial and error, what seems to work....for me anyway. You're more than welcome to cmail me if you want. ~sweetsub~
