Funny thing...my granny pased away when she was 82. Prior to that, she had a bevy of boyfriends all at least 10 years younger than her. She never sought them out...they did the chasing. She used to laugh and tell me that even when my grandpa was alive, she was turning down younger men. When asked why she liked them young, she would laugh and say " I want a man who's alive and loving life...not some old fart who complains about his aches and pains while reminiscing about the good old days. The good old days are NOW!"

I know I'm following in her footsteps...with a smile!

Oh, as for the article...I hate the title "cougar" and think its funny women who like to date younger men are given such a predatory name. Why not just call us Lilith?

One of my 'cougar heroes', so to speak, is Georgia O'Keefe. From the Wiki:

In 1971 O'Keeffe became aware that her eyesight was failing. At the age of 84, she was losing her central vision and only had peripheral sight, due to an irreversible eye degeneration disease. She stopped painting in 1972. Juan Hamilton, a young potter, appeared at her ranch house in 1973 looking for work. She hired him for a few odd jobs and soon employed him full time. He became her closest confidante, companion, and business manager until her death.

[Emphasis mine.]

Yeah- my gram too.

She did not say much when she was younger- but bits and pieces now- I know she was chased.

Hunker.....I'm not up on my homo slang. Is there a term for a 40+ gay male that blows 20 something gay males? (other than "old homo")

Old homo works.
Cougars are not always predatory animals.  When a younger guy is obviously attracted to and pursues an older woman, how can she be considered the predator?

This was part of my issue with the term. I have never pursued a younger man in my life, and I have been called a cougar several times. I am beginning to think it is enough to just be a single woman over 40

I am dating men my age or younger. The youngest one i have dated so far was 28 and really once i got over the age thing, we had a good time.  I won't date men 56 or above - i have already had a dom that i loved and adored  die on me, and i'm not going to have that happen again - if i can help it. He was 11 years older than me.
So , dating younger men for me is a no-brainer. They are less likely to die of age related diseases, and more likely to have decent health insurance.

And as far as personalities go, i see no difference between a 30- or 40- something than a 50- or 60- something, so there is no down side for me.

The only old elderly man I would ever consider getting with is someone who is on this board.

I say this because he is so cute in his icon.
