While I've no doubt that there are some people that believe this, it isn't a generally held belief at all, and not one I've encountered recently.

I don't think it's ok for women to deem men guilty until proven otherwise - but I do think it's ok for them to be cautious. There are a lot of wierdos on this site. You know, the kind that might work themselves into a messed up rage when rejected.
Sincerely - Take a step back - ask yourself what it is that you may have done in order to have triggered the negative response you seem to have received from someone. You're talking about experiences that are simply not that common.
If you've been accused of being pathetic and desperate by one woman recently, then shrug your shoulders and move on (it's her loss), if this is something that you've been accused of by several women - then you may have to embrace the possibility that you either come across as pathetic and desperate or that you are in fact pathetic and desperate.
