Most of the debate about illegal immigration is about how its "wrong" but not so much about how its harmful. The debate is rarely about the self defeating nature of current US immigration policies that close the door on people who are ready and prepared to lay down roots in the US. With all the talk of deflation and lack of economic demand, might not boosting US demand for housing and other items through legal immigration be a good idea? From what I have seen as an immigration attorney, immigrants are smart with money, know how to spot opportunities, and work hard. If afforded status in the US, they are a force that could really boost up our economy and tax base. Why not tap into it?
