Can't believe a Mod misunderstood it.

I didn't. When a Mod posts a warning, it is a fast reply unless they say otherwise. Please note that my post was directed to 'everyone'.

Those of you participating on this thread may have noticed that it has shrunk a considerable amount.  Numerous posts were pulled for personal attacks.

A greater number of posts were pulled for posting part of a private mail, discussing the contents of that private mail, or identifying the sender.  Please refrain from such activities in the future.  Feel free to use the "block user" button on the other side to stop unwanted emails from other users.  The "hide user" button can be used to avoid seeing them viewing your profile.

Thank you.

Sorry that I misunderstood, then.

the part I focused on was :"in reply to truckinslave", and when I clicked there it took me to a post in support of willbe- a post I considered thoroughly innocuous; hence my confusion.

Boy, you guys really read this stuff!

I apologise for naming someone but wish to make a point. It is impossible to block someone you have had no dealings with, so we open cm`s in good faith. I did report the content and hopefully someone will take note. It doesnt seem right to me that someone banned from the boards can just sit and fire off disgusting Cmails at random users.

Rule -> RE: Cabbie Stabbed After Fare Asked, 'Are You Muslim? (8/30/2010 9:33:06 AM)

I have not received that cmail.

However, recently I received a cmail inspired by another thread. I do not know whether it was by the same person - and neither is that any of my business - and I did not perceive it as offensive. I recognized genuine concern and had a moderating (I hope) exchange with the sender.

The fact that his profile claimed he worked for a Left Wing Progressive group was entered at the Begining of this thread. Intersections International also confirmed his previous employment. Anyone who is actually following the thread and debate is fully aware of it.

Except you.

Mr. Enright is also a volunteer with Intersections International, an initiative of the Collegiate Churches of New York that promotes justice and faith across religions and cultures. The organization, which covered part of Mr. Enright’s travel expenses to Afghanistan, has been a staunch supporter of the Islamic center near ground zero. Mr. Enright volunteered with the group’s veteran-civilian dialogue project.

He shot film projects for Intersections International, a nonprofit group that supports the mosque and "promotes interfaith dialogue and cross-cultural cooperation, specifically with our Muslim brothers and sisters."

So which is it rml? Would you rather have the truth or continue acting smug and asinine?

I had a post pulled recently because it contained a quote that had been pulled. The mod indicated I could re-post if I removed the text of the quote it referenced. I felt no need to since the post was the irksome event in the first place. However, this reminds me why I wrote

"More likely you'd have a progressive explode in righteous indignation and exude a river of bullshit before managing to close his or her mouth long enough to ascertain the truth. The lower case on progressive is intentional as the lack of reading comprehension reminds me of those who write DOM on their forehead in black crayon and suddenly feel so imbued with arcane knowledge that they think they deserve respect rather than having to evidence a reason it should be granted. "

So truth,.

From intersections international itself.

"Monday, March 22: Michael Enright, a student at the School of Visual Arts and volunteer for Intersections’ Veteran-Civilian Dialogue program, was featured in The Journal News. Enright is working on his thesis film project about war’s effects on the soul, which includes excerpts of the Veteran-Civilian Dialogue. Enright’s film follows his former classmate Cpl. Alex Eckner, and Eckner’s army unit through basic training in Hawai’i, deployment to Afghanistan and their return home."

By the way, didn't you say you'd give Beck credit for not spending his time bashing liberals and democrats during his rally?

My, my Strange, you've worked yourself all up into a tizzy.

Let's see, where to start.

First, the only two articles I saw were the Yahoo and AOL links, which contradicted each other.  Yahoo was basing its information solely on the claims made by the suspect on his Facebook page, while Intersections was offering a denial on the AOL
link.  I found the latter more credible and that was the basis of my response to Lucky.

Intersections has since issued a statement acknowledging he was a volunteer. I could split hairs about Lucky's remarks that he was an employee, but I'll concede the point.

As far as your little rant about liberals, I think this is the third or fourth post I've made on this thread and I have not said anything partisan or suggested  his attack was motivated by conservatives.  So I think you might want to look into your own explosions of "righteous indignation".

The part about me being smug was really funny coming from the pot.

Lastly, to your off-topic remarks about Beck, you might have considered posting them on the two threads we have about his rally.

But I will also concede that it was not overtly political, though there were some remarks that could be interpreted as subtly political.  Especially Sister Sarah's remark about those who want to transform the nation, a phrase she has used constantly in her attacks on Obama.

Not to mention that many in the crowd seemed to believe that the whole restoring honor theme was political, judging from their comments in interviews.

luckydawg -> RE: Cabbie Stabbed After Fare Asked, 'Are You Muslim? (8/30/2010 1:00:44 PM)

I guess that is as close to an apology as I could expect from a liberal.

mnottertail -> RE: Cabbie Stabbed After Fare Asked, 'Are You Muslim? (8/30/2010 1:13:47 PM)

Well you're lucky then, dawg, a conservative would ignore the facts, and keep repeating it on other threads as 'proof'  you know like cutting taxes raised revenue..........

I'm not looking for apologies. What I am, however, is tired of the instant whitewash of racism, assumed stupidity, and accusations of intolerance that surround having a difference of opinion with liberal folk. I was probably wrong in insinuating smug, even though the post came across as such. rml was also correct about the beck rally quote. It didn't belong here. I'll concede those points.

I don't know if it's because of the fact we are faceless here or not, but I have never had such garbage tossed around so frequently among people I know. And I know them from both sides. I talk to people on both sides. Here, the attitude that often comes across is that you are too bothersome to live if you don't suck the tit of liberal philosophy.

I saw much the same stand with conservatives during Bush's first administration. I told them then, you are alienating the very people who put him in office, cause know what? It wasn't party faithful nor the fringe. It was people in the middle who honestly get tired of being told what to think and how to think it.

It wasn't an apology, it was an explanation.

But since you want to force the issue, what you said was wrong and Intersections' denial was right.

The last I saw, a volunteer is not an employee.

It is not impossible to block a user that you have not received mail from.  It may be that it has not occurred to you.

To block any user, go to their short profile.  Under the picture/profile description are five columns of buttons.  The top one in the middle column says BLOCK USER.  Click that.

The second way to block any user is to open up their long profile, via clicking "View Full Profile".  Under their picture (if any), you will see the following, with a checkbox to the left of each choice:

Your settings for this user:

On Favorites List                Blocked                 Hidden

Click the BLOCKED button then click the SAVE CHANGES button which appears to the right of the HIDDEN button (and is not shown here).

Thanks for the reply. Impossible was the wrong word for me to use though, although I did know how to block people using the profile. My point was, why would we block someone we have had no cmails from.
