txurinal -> reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:06:56 AM)

my profile states clearly, gay male submissive. Yesterday i was contacted by a "straight male submissive". The chat was bizarre. i think i was contacted by him as we live close to each other. He wanted me to dominate him although he said he had never been with a man. i told him i was usually the one seeking to be dominated. He had a long list of what he wanted, forced to wear women's clothing, forced interrogation, and on and on and on. Right away you could tell this is a major pushy bottom.

So i guess my question is "do folks read the profiles"? And if they do why would a "straight bottom" contact a gay bottom for domination? Unless the person you contact is what your are seeking, why would you bothering contact a person just because they might be convenient to your location when they are not what you want?

leadership527 -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:07:44 AM)

No, they don't. I get all kinds of messages from various male bottoms (among others). Just ignore them.

DarkSteven -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:09:57 AM)

I have been contacted by all sorts, including a doofus that wanted to feminize me and whore me out. Then there was another guy who claimed that he could give me a blow job so good that it would turn me from straight to gay, and drop my relationship with my then-sub.  And he wasn't even in my state!

Some people figure that a contact with someone who is not suited to them is better than no contact at all.

Question - why did you even HAVE a chat with him?

Not usually.  My profile clearly states that Daddy reads my mail here, and that I'm an owned slave.  I still receive email from dominant men who are asking if I'm interested.

Close the email and move on.  This will happen regularly.

Tantriqu -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:13:38 AM)

Yep, happens all the time on both sides of the kneel. I get solicitations [and hate mail!] from bi's, switches, doms, transvestites, lesbians and marrieds ALL THE TIME although I plaster my profile with Straight Single Sub Males only.
Le sigh!
Mail filters, blocking and the 'hide' button are your friends here; don't bother reading any mail unless it's the right colour [I guess dark blue for you].

Good luck.

LadyPact -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:17:16 AM)

I tend to think that a huge majority don't, especially those coming from the 'other side' of the forums.  The fact that you got one that contacted you is actually pretty low.  I think the largest category for Me that shows folks didn't read My profile are those who skip over the fact that I have no interest in being contacted unless it is by those who are either local to Me or that use the forums.  Second to that would be those who miss that I already have someone in My collar and/or don't notice that I am married.

A good number of people on this site will throw out the line and hook to darn near anyone.  I do My best to try to remember that many folks are still in the fantasy stage of all of this.  (Which actually makes Me wish that they had skipped My inbox all together.)  It just makes Me ever so more grateful that I get to experience BDSM in the physical world.

peppermint -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:17:49 AM)

You have to realize one thing. Reading a profile takes time. That time would, for many, be better used to keep trolling for someone to scratch their itch. Many do not care about you and what you might want. They have their itch. The itch needs scratched.

I said I was sorry about that! Geez....  [8|]

unfaithed -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:19:44 AM)

I have found that since I have removed my picture from my profile, those who do contact me are better educated about who I am and what I am looking for. I don't get nearly as many messages, but since I'm not here just for the attention, I don't find it to be a problem. It tends to weed out those who send the form email en masse.

It happens all the time.  People set their search parameters to their local area then shotgun emails to everyone who shows up on the most recent users list.  It's a dead giveaway when you get email from someone who doesn't show up on your "Who's Viewing Me" list.  Ignore them and move on.

Was that you?  Ooops, I thought that was light stephanie LOL

MissSophieM -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:27:18 AM)

Well you can make your profile a clear bulleted list, post photos of edge-play and STILL get completely irrelevant mails.

RealSub58 -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:28:03 AM)

And then there are those who forget they emailed me when I replied "not interested" and email again...the exact same message.

I respond to every doofus hoping they learn to read profiles or realize they are barking up the wrong tree.

One "dom" told me to block him so he wouldnt cmail me.  I asked where had his almighty domliness gone?

[:D]  people are people !! [8|]

SubPet715 -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:34:31 AM)

People don't read them so I *gasp* read them every time and I don't send anything unwanted to someone.
This doesn't mean I don't put great thought into what I write in my own profile, the best kind of domme/sub/dom (what have you) have usually shown in their message that they have read what it is they want.

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:35:12 AM)

I'm sure the majority don't, at least not the whole profile.  I clearly state that I own cats, need someone who works days, am seeking a LTR, am a BBW, and am not seeking someone who has primary custody of minor children, etc.  Yet I have been contacted by subs and slaves who are allergic to cats, work the night shift, are seeking a play-only situation, only like a skinny Dommes, have a house full of minor children, etc.  When I asked them why they even bothered to contact me in the first place, since all of these things are clearly stated in my profile, they swear they never saw it in my profile and it seems to come as a total surprise.   The reason being they didn't read the profile, or at least not all of it.

This doesn't include the ones who ignore my request that the sub live within a 100-mile radius.  Those I generally don't even see because any replies from out of the state or country get directed to bulk mail, as do the ones from subs young enough to be my son.

littlewonder -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:48:16 AM)

The only people I think who read profiles are maybe those who read and participate in the forums.

Otherwise nope, they don't because basically they feel if you're on a kink site then anyone will do. We're interchangeable. I've learned over the years that that's how most on sites like these operate.

KatyLied -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 10:55:32 AM)

Dear OP - feel free to ignore messages and chat requests.  Almost every time I log in I have strangers sending me chat requests.  I ignore them, no big deal.

lovetobeslave -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 11:13:03 AM)

I read the profile. I try to include something from the users profile in the body of my email to let them know I have it. My profile clearly states no single men and 90% of my inbox are? You guys know this one.

What is really strange is that so many write me, over and over again, a few weeks apart, as if it were the first time.

I always point out to them that when you hit reply, all of their previous emails come up beneath. And they are always surprised.

toxic66 -> RE: reading profiles? (8/29/2010 11:24:53 AM)

Some of them do read the profile, but write anyway. I have received a few messages from gay submissive men saying that even though I am straight and am seeking a submissive woman they would like to know if I might be interested in a male sub. I guess maybe some get so desperate to scratch that itch that they look anywhere.
