Wrinklemeat Reagan, Arbusto Bush, and Infrastucture Obama.

And the guy on the bike I assume is Obama again. Still missing it to be honest, Sanity is usually much more straightforward when it comes to this partisan stuff, and I don't reckon he could be criticised legitimately in a thread like this.

Tom's dark humor.  Review the pictures.  Has Reagan forgot whether or not he's cut his leg off?  Is Bush brushing off the constitution? Is Obama planning an exit strategy?

That's because If John McCain had won, everything would be just peachy now.

I dont know how peachy things would be but I wish he HAD won.

Why?

I think there were better people out there (on both sides) but the powers that be didnt have them running.

2 reasons, I feel he was more qualified than Obama and I feel that after putting up with the hell of the "Hanoi Hilton" nothing a hostile congress could throw at him would affect him much.

There's also the historical fact that the country runs better when Congres and the POTUS are of different parties.

Except the McCain of 2008 was not the McCain of 2000.

If he was I might even have voted for him, but he turned desperate knowing this was probably his last attempt to win the Presidency and reversed his stance on long-held positions so he would appeal to the far right.  He's doing the same thing now with his reversal on illegal immigration issues in his Senate race.

Just an opinion with no facts to back it up here ok........The reason McCain was the RNC's choice to run last election was as follows. They figured with the mood of the country after 8 years of Dubya that the race was unwinnable so "Let's give old John a shot because he's paid his dues then we can regroup for '12"

All of a sudden Obama got the nomination instead of Hillary and it was like "Holy SHIT!!!!!!! we need to get moving so they panicked and went with "Palin the Photogenic". That ended up backfiring when she, in her own words, went rogue.

The rest is history
Hey, it's an opinion. That and a dollar will get ya a cup of coffee at the corner gas station. Ya dont like it? buy ya own damn coffee.

I agree with the second part but not the first.

This theory has been going around for a while and I've never understood the reasoning behind it.

McCain won the GOP primaries.  He won the votes of the party's constituents.  He wasn't just randomly selected to run by the RNC.

The theory is internally inconsistent. If they didnt give a shit, then there would have been no reason to panic. FAIL

Willbe, if you (personally) are running a 100M race against Usain Bolt, are you going to BLAST out of the blocks and take a chance on ripping a hamstring? So, you take your place and start running because it's expected. Then, 50M into the race, he falls down. You're all of a sudden thinking "HOLY SHIT, I can beat Usain Bolt in the 100M" and you run like hell.

That's an analogy of what happened the last election.

Prob is, if you had blasted out of the blocks and given it your all in the first place, it would have been an easy win.
The RNC was privately conceding and didnt want to "get hurt" in an unwinnable race. You folks claim that the RNC didnt pick McCain, he won the primaries. That is true but NOONE will win a national party primary without the backing of the "Party Leaders" They control too much of the money and anyone that thinks they can win a national or even statewide race without kissing the hand that holds the purse strings is naive.

None of which says anything about the inconsistency between not giving a shit because the race was lost, followed by panic.

I guess I went over your head.  Sorry bout that.  I'll have to remember My audience on these political posts.

I'll type slowly.

The panic was because the race they expected and didnt think they could win (Against Hillary) never materialized.  They ended up running against a VERY beatable opponent but by then it was too late.  The die had already been cast and it was too late to do anything else about it.

Now, the country, I feel, is poorer for it.
