LadyHugs -> RE: is there any ranking system for subs/slaves (4/22/2006 8:44:32 PM)

Dear Ms. Stacy and Mr. John, Ladies and Gentlemen; I am from an antiquated system to which there were many Masters and slaves, to which numbers would exceed some current BDSM support and education groups. So, it was necessary to establish ranks as well as to establish who was “staff” and who was “students.” In my salad days of the lifestyle, much like karate, we had degrees of slaves to which we wore color coded tags on our collars to denote our status. As far as Masters went, the Masters entered lesser ranking Masters before senior, as to stand and give the silent salute (bow from the head) and established the orders of the day. Student Masters were assigned to senior Masters, so they filed in after the staff Masters were settled and took their place with their training/mentoring Masters. Now days, nothing really supports such. As a faculty member of Master Taino’s Training Academy, which is predominantly Gay Leather there is rank. Master Taino is Executor and Master Tallen is Co-Executor and the rest of the instructors are faculty. Slaves that work in the capacity of trainers/presenters are called ‘staff’ slaves. These slaves have power as to direct and correct the student slaves absent of a Master/Mistress that is faculty. This academy is low keyed but extremely effective with four days of intense exposure of what Master-slave relationships are about. Master Taino’s academy is under utilized by heterosexuals but, perhaps it will change. I am also a member of Master Tallen’s Leather Corps, which I belong to the Honor Legion at the rank of Major. Using the military vein of rank and discipline, that structure works for Master Tallen. In my past experiences, dominants and submissive individuals could choose the European “school” of M/s and or D/s; in which we had four foundations to choose our “style” of domination and submission. Military, Civilian, Religious and or Imperial. I will proffer a side note, that in “Screw the Roses” you will see Master Phil Miller dressed in a religious frock, using the bondage and techniques of the Church’s Inquisition period, to which modern BDSM and S&M borrow from and mute it as not to be fatal. However, these four foundations do have “ranks” in authority and submission, protocols and such. In a household though, I am of the practice in a polyandry home; the numbers of slaves do not justify ranking system. I take great pains to see that slaves are treated equal. It is important other slaves help each other succeed but, do not ‘train’ the slaves. That is my duty and responsibility. I do agree with slaves who are collared to a Master/Mistress, only to be pushed aside to a slave for training; that they have been mislead, especially when they do not know up front that this is how the Master/Mistress trains. The collaring is to the Master/Mistress --not to their slave(s). Each slave will be in charge in a rotation basis. All learn how to be in charge and how to follow as a slave. In summary, slaves in the company of other slaves, need to know that there are senior slaves and are entitled to respect and their advice is worthy to listen to. However, slaves can only caution, advise, offer to assist, support and inspire in my household. But, they are never there to ‘train,’ or 'pull rank/seniority' unless they are giving a presentation or workshop. Respectfully submitted, Lady Hugs
