Perhaps this one WAS sabotage....no one knows right now....but if you look back at history and see how many "gushers" (...not THAT kind of gusher.... lol..) were the "norm" in the early days of oil exploration.....you might be thankful it is done as efficiently and safely as it is the world over. I hate having these thoughts..basically because I don't want them to ever come true, but with two oil platforms blowing up so close together, I wonder if anyone is looking into the possibility of sabatoge. It could be bad timing, but it seems as if not long after Obama's speech about opening up offshore drilling, the BP platform went off, now this one, following very closely on the heels. People were speculating in April, but I wonder if they are doing more then that now. Lisa

Master Cord, You forgot water. We have the technology now, to run cars on various liquids, water included. Why is it not being used? Ask the fuel companies and auto makers. As for American jobs, there are alternative energy companies in N Dakota BEGGING people to come up there and make good money. (N Dakota is still part of the US last time I looked). Like I said. N Dakota has unemployment of 4.1% as of June and is begging for folks to come up and work in energy related jobs. When the Dust bowl and depression hit Oklahoma with a double whammy, thousands of folks pulled up stakes and went to California to work for peanuts but at least they were working because they were proud. Now, people would rather sit at home, listen to their favorite person on the radio or TV telling them it isnt their fault and whine.

Getting kind of regular these oil related disasters, or is it just a case the US has been reasonably lucky up until the DeepWater Horizon disaster and there the US public eye became focused on the subject, because it is in their back yard not some other part of the world. I believe in the US there are a few programs to gather gas from cattle poop, why not human poop. But one thing is for certain, as we have a massive interest in sailing, those skills are there to be used and could be again and if not sailing, using the wind to power generators to drive ships, or at least supplement their fuel.

We surely didn't get where we are today thinking "We can't". I suppose just about anything is possible when you put your mind to it.

Before all you guys and gals start with the wild conspiracies (to late), try to get the facts on this issue. What is known to date/time? There are many unanswered questions, that have to be studied before assinging blaming, or bring up lame political statements.

Anyone want to bet that either an engine overheated or someone was welding where they shouldn't have been or without proper shielding? No conspiracy at work. Just bad luck and/or sloppiness.
