Owner59 -> Obama Set To Create More Jobs in 2010 Than In The Entire bush Presidency.... (9/2/2010 5:33:08 PM)

"If the economy produces jobs over the next eight months at the same pace as it did over the past four months, the nation will have created more jobs in 2010 alone than it did over the entire eight years of George W. Bush's presidency."

Won`t that make for a good campaign advert.

Gobama!

IF, and I mean IF, either party was serious about creating jobs, all that would be needed is a national works bill to repair the failing infrastructure of the United States.

Bridges, roads, dams, levies etc are all below standard, and 26% of the bridges in this country are structurally deficient or obsolete.

source

The annual cost to just bring the infrastructure back to standard, not for improvements $786 Billion dollars, that total does not count dams, schools, waste water treatment, hazardous waste treatment, or dams.

The number of jobs created would number in the millions.

Infrastructure, at least in this area, is a LOT of what the "Stimulus package" is doing.

2 new bridges have been replaced in this county alone. One of them is famous because Hoover rode across it (It wasnt new when that happened)

Let me know when the unemployment rate dips below 16%.

It probably already has. IIRC current unemployment stats are only taken for people who are unemployed up to 6 months. After those 6 they're dropped off the stats. Stats are not your friend.

If Obama is set to create all of these jobs, what's taking him so long ? We are into September. He better get his butt off the golf course and start creating these jobs.

Your article is dated from May, Basiji. How are those first 4 month projections working out here in the glorious "Summer of Recovery?" Care to run off and bring back the May-August numbers? Don't forget to account for the census hiring (and firing), either, which your link shamelessly fails to do.

They don’t lend taxpayer money to Americans but create jobs in China (watch the video) not to mention the Repugs blocking the jobs bill in the senate. Repugs don’t give a shit about America.

That particular press release? Hadn't seen it. This fact from it, I was plenty aware of though;

quote:

During that time the economy was growing at an anemic pace.

Then we have the line they may be hoping nobody reads to the very end to see;

quote:

CBO said it expects the effects of the stimulus to gradually diminish over the remainder of the year.

It's a boondoggle, Lucy. We aren't getting anywhere except deeper into debt.

TheHeretic -> RE: Obama Set To Create More Jobs in 2010 Than In The Entire bush Presidency.... (9/2/2010 10:52:32 PM)

There is also this one;

quote:

WASHINGTON – The unemployment rate may be about to rise again.

Economists are bracing for a weak showing in the August employment report, which is scheduled to be released Friday. The private sector is forecast to add a net total of only 41,000 jobs, the fewest since January, which isn't enough to keep up with population growth. The jobless rate is expected to increase to 9.6 percent from 9.5 percent, the first rise since April.

Where are all the jobs that the wealthy were supposed to create when they got their welfare-for-the-rich tax cuts from Bush? Huh? Oh, that's right, they offshored the money or used it to speculate on oil futures and CDOs.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama Set To Create More Jobs in 2010 Than In The Entire bush Presidency.... (9/3/2010 12:03:54 AM)

Honestly Rich, I honestly do not see anything enticing the private sector to come up with anywhere near the jobs needed, if they cut taxes to even one percent.. His small business stuff, will never be enough to make up the numbers needed to satisfy anyone.
CEOs from the companies that cut the most jobs are still raking in huge bonus's. That wont change
I dont know how anyone in their right mind believes that this is not going to take years to come out of regarding job creation.
it didnt happen overnight, small steps is the only way it will/can.
I sure as hell dont have the answers, I wouldnt be up with insomnia if I did. and you would be kissing my arse
heh
there ya go, very highly soooooooo unlikely to happen
same with a magic cure
2 hopes, Bob Hope and No Hope.
I just hope the people that need help to survive, get it... but, it is one area that is constantly disapointing
