ORIGINAL: Carouselambra 9½ Weeks > Secretary. Secretery was entertaining because it was funny and "cutsey". 9½ Weeks was meant to shock old women in retirement homes. It was - "so what?"-ish. Wrong on both counts, for me at least. If you read both books, you would perhaps feel differently. Especially 9 1/2 weeks. I read it years ago and am still haunted by the final line in the book; it will haunt me forever. Isn't it something about wondering if she"ll "ever be warm again"? I liked how much more fleshed out Mickey Rourke's character was in the book. Yes, it is something she says right after she recovers from a nervous breakdown and she is back home. She says something like, I will never feel normal without the bonds of his around my wrists and she puts her hands over head. It is just too tragic that she may never get to experience such intensity again. At least that is how I relate to it. For TwoShoes, I am able to identify with all genders in films and books; if they are good characters. Mickey's character in the book is actually not that fleshed out, but it almost does not matter. It is simply a character study of two people over 9 1/2 of intensity.
