cuckoldmepls -> Castro Finally Admits Socialism Doesn't Work (9/13/2010 8:48:50 AM)

There really isn't much difference between socialism and communism, since both systems are based on the belief that the government is entitled to most of your paycheck. Socialist countries can only survive as long as someone is subsidizing them. With Cuba, it was the Soviets subsidizing them until the Soviets collapsed.

With Canada, Europe, Japan, Mexico, and now China, the United States has been subsidizing them with our trade and military bases. Without us, they would all fail except for Japan whos system is based on capitalism, not welfare.

What it comes down to is one question. Should you be working for yourself or the state???

The answer should be obvious for true Americans.

Why are there no people with 'cuck' as part of their name that're sane. It's an extremely popular fetish, there should be some reasonably sentient ones out there.

They get their rocks off from their wives being fucked. Insanity begins at home.

I never realized that trade was a subsidy...and your military bases really don't provide a substantial amount of income. Tell you what, go ahead and cut off all that evil socialist trade with other countries and see where that gets you.

The real update on this is that Castro claims that he actually was being sarcastic and that capitalism doesnt work.

That was updated in the other thread also.

Sanity -> RE: Castro Finally Admits Socialism Doesn't Work (9/13/2010 11:03:39 AM)

That was last weeks update. This weeks update is that

quote:

Cuba to cut 500,000 gov't workers; reform salaries

...To soften the blow, it said the government would authorize simultaneous increases in job opportunities in the non-state sector, allowing more Cubans to become self-employed, to form cooperatives run by employees rather than government bureaucrats and to increase private control of state land and infrastructure through long-term leases.

Lucylastic -> RE: Castro Finally Admits Socialism Doesn't Work (9/13/2010 11:05:55 AM)

as a non communist country you shed 8 million workers... does that mean that capitalism is just as bad as communism

Sanity -> RE: Castro Finally Admits Socialism Doesn't Work (9/13/2010 11:13:31 AM)

Socialist ideals and programs are the major contributors to the deficits and other problems which are causing our economy to stumble.

DCWoody -> RE: Castro Finally Admits Socialism Doesn't Work (9/13/2010 11:13:43 AM)

Dividing economies into straight up 'capitalist'or 'communist' doesn't really make sense, even the US isn't pure market capitalism, even Cuba isn't absolute communism nowadays. Some people suggest anything but almost-pure communism counts as capitalism, just not laissez faire, some americans suggest one of their political parties (which appears horribly right wing to many of us) is communist.

Both pure free market and total communism 'work' in the sense that they don't sink into the sea, or go into perpetual recession....but every nation on earth is essentially running a mixed economy as a better idea.

I understand that Woody, really I do, but  the revisionist facts  are making me laugh in this thread, so Im not being serious. just pointing out the disconnect

Well, they made some nice cars, "55 Plymouths, '56 Chevrolets,.....oh,.....wait a minute!

DCWoody -> RE: Castro Finally Admits Socialism Doesn't Work (9/13/2010 11:31:36 AM)

You are sort of correct....but many nations run such programs (far better programs than in the usa) without problem.
The American problem is the combination of running such problems while not being willing to pay enough taxes for them.

A considerable amount is just them being generally run inefficiently too ofc.

The debate constantly seems to be one (your) side arguing that you can't afford these programs, while the other side argues that your side is always going after extremely low taxes for the rich. Both sides points are true, but the Republicans don't have the balls (or the will) to get rid of the state pension, medicare, etc.... and the democrats don't have the balls (or the will) to put rich taxes back to how they used to be. Eventually ya gotta choose.

That's just an oversimplified view from an ocean away I know. My 3 cents. :)

And those nice cars are still running in Cuba, working every day.

Nothing to do with two military occupations (one started under false pretences in defiance of the UN) and tax cuts on the people who could actually pay more money, outsourcing labour so that money from the big American companies is doing nothing for the local economy, and an economy based on a credit bubble collapsing with an ugly farting sound two years ago, then?
Nope, the big problem is whichever last remnants of social security didn't get dismantled by the fiscally conservative Republicans.
I'm glad you don't have a partisan axe to grind, Sanity: heaven knows what you'd come out with if you did...

By definition, not a real sharp axe.
