For native americans to be "racist" by nature or history is laughable. That was my point. People are racist, individually. For thishereboi to bring up his exes race as a way to point out the racism was wrong. Doesnt matter if she was native american, white, japanese, martian... its even possible to be racist against your own race.

For you both, quit thinking in terms of the haves and have nots, in color of skin (which is becoming more blurred with each passing generation) and look to the heart of the person.

Sanity -> RE: In Search of People of Color (at a "TEA party rally") (9/14/2010 8:35:39 PM)

Thats not even a little white lie thats insanity and you should demand your money back from whatever backwards school it was that you wasted your time at because any time any group uses overwhelming power to unjustly disadvantage others purely on account of race its totally unacceptable, julia. You may justify racism this way because you think it makes you morally superior to some others but in real terms it just makes you a very ugly person.

What you do not seem to get is that there is still white hegemony in the USA, so racism on the part of others does not have the same impact as institutional/structural racism. The reason why we need discrimination laws is because when one group of people owns most everything, and will not let other groups of people share in that by giving them jobs, promotions, loans, college admittance, etc that disadvantaged group is impacted disproportionally.

And I would love to hear what school of higher education accepted the likes of a young, openminded and intelligent Sanity!

I think maybe the school of McManagement at the local McUniversity.

There are so few minorities at Teabagger fapfests as to make no difference.

The truth always makes a difference.

Not to some people, Kirata.  Not to some people.

Firm

Please. There were virtually no people of color participating in the rally. How big was the crowd? What is the number?

I believe it is by 2042 white folk are supposedly going to be the minority when compared to "people of color." I like the black dude that was there due to his hatred of the thought of gays getting married. How many are there that think that Obama is a Muslim?

It was a Republican splinter rally. You would at least think that a decent amount of Hispanics would have shown up. Didn't see one even interviewed.

You would do better sticking with your argument that the Prius causes more harm in it's production to the environment than anything that is gained throught it's fuel efficiency.

The majority and the base of the Republican party is white. the Republican tea party through it's racial overtones would expect to draw even less than the main GOP.

As the video clearly shows.

Ah yes, so sorry. I did jump on that without really looking. Point taken.

Maybe the problem is that your response was not really related to thishereboi's point, which is she was saying I somehow think it is "okay" for people to be racist because I pointed out that when the group with more power discriminates that the consequences of this discrimination are much more pronounced.

If my black neighbor called me a cracker, it might piss me off and hurt my feelings, but is it really going to keep me from getting a job or getting into college or getting a loan?

When she called him a n*(^%^, it didn't keep him from getting a job or anything else mentioned above. It pissed us both off and hurt his feelings. It also showed me what a racist little pissant she was, but that was about all. Sorry, but it still sounds like you think it's ok for a minority to be racist, but not whites. To me hate is hate and unacceptable.

It is wrong for anyone to be hateful, I have never said otherwise, no matter how many times you say I have.

If he or shes someone like president of the United States, or a leader of a very prominent church, or the United States Attorney General, or possibly some other government bureaucrat or community leader then yes, its absolutely possible for minorities to cause substantial economic harm through their racism and discrimination, and it happens. Not "only" against whites but by minorities against people of other minority races as well.

Or a person can be murdered or raped, robbed, or get the shit kicked out of them just for being the wrong color as well.

I didnt go to Leftist U where certain hatred, bigotry and racism is met with a wink and a nod and self loathing is encouraged (like some brainiacs here), I attended Liberal U wherein we were taught to be functional citizens, one and all.

That explains your peculiar stances on the oil well not being capped due to nefarious and conspiratorical subterfuge on the day it was capped, the great american right to build bathtubs in our rivers, and generally piss and shit in our public drinking water,  and the 'angels and demons' type symbology Immelt was using on a saturday night live skit to send the message to Obama.

Functional citizenship.

And now, for something completely different...........

If someone can be shown to been harmed through bigotry and racism, then they should sue the person they believe is guilty of subjecting them to racism...

I would be very interested on your connecting Obama to being a racist.. seriously, please man up and provide an example where Obama has harmed anyone by being racist.

Obviously, the topic of this thread is a politically correct way of calling Tea Party members racist. I'm surprised no one else figured that out.

I'll tell you what's really racist. when 95% of all black voters voted for Obama. If you need further proof, even Colin Powell a staunch republican endorsed him, and I'll bet voted for him. That's racism at its finest.

brainiacsub -> RE: In Search of People of Color (at a "TEA party rally") (9/15/2010 8:40:33 AM)

Nothing obvious at all.  The topic of this thread, if you had been being at all interested other than some sort of attack, is that the OP who has actually tried to defend you less than stellar types here, was saying there were some indications that people of colour had some truck with the teabaggers.

Was it this one?

Edited to add... It might be this one

Is this real or a Jon Stewart joke?

cuckoldmepls -> RE: In Search of People of Color (at a "TEA party rally") (9/15/2010 8:50:55 AM)

Well it is obvious that he is a racist President, since he automatically jumped on the Harvard Professor's side, and accused the police officer of acting stupidly without knowing the facts. But I'm more concerned about his anti American attitudes and policies, as evidenced by his apologizing to Muslim countries for us, and his Immigration and multicultural policies that in reality discriminate against English speaking Americans by requiring them to learn a foreign language in order to get a job in their own country.

You would have to take that up with firmhandky, since he originated the thread

Yes, it was a vast right wing racist conspiracy on the part of Colin Powell... that is too fucking much!

How many black people voted for Bill Clinton (84%) and Al Gore(90%)? Was it some vast racist conpiracy that they got so much support? Your obvious racist bias against Obama isn't holding up all that well, since Democrats represent people from a wide array of ethnic backgrounds.... including white people
