If the Teaparty movement is about fiscal responsibility and small government then why did some of the 'people of colour' turn up with T-shirt slogans stating, with reference to gay marriage, "A moral wrong can't be a civil right?" It matters not what colour the people are there as the Teaparty movement is clearly a movement of narrow mindedness. Ignorance and bigotry exists in all colours...who knew?

Typical lefty BS.

"They don't agree with me (the sanctified, super-duper intelligent, only-moral-correct-thinking person), therefore they are:

(Pick any or all)

1. racist,
2. prejudiced,
3. stupid (ignorant, uneducated etc),
4. criminal,
5 deranged,
6. evil,
7. deceived.

It appears that in the lefty world-view there isn't much room for the actual possibility that someone can disagree with you, and have valid logical and moral reasons.  Oh, theoretically you'll admit it's possible ... nudge nudge, wink wink.

It is truely sad that we (as in humans) so often ascribe malice to differing opinions.  I still believe that overall we all want the same thing.  A better life.  We just all see different ways of getting to that point.  This does not make another person bad.

I like the idea of putting more ideas for a better future on the table than I do taking them away because we may not agree with all of a person's stances.

Not too bad, I suppose, as sidesteps go.
But the fact remains that Americans are being required to learn a foreign language for a whole host of jobs because of, in large part, runaway (illegal) immigration. Many of us think that is wrong.

who might that be, you might have a credible citation or two to bolster that absolutely unsupportable and absurd figment of your imagination?

Well, until you create your own language, you are kind of stuck with mine. History sucks, sometimes.

Having to learn a foreign language for your job is nothing new.  How many fields require Latin?  (Hint: there is a lot of them ~ history, medicine, chemistry, biology, geology, archeology, paleontology, et cetera)

There is a reason that foreign languages have been a requirement in high schools and colleges.  Especially if you look at liberal arts studies through the centuries.

Furthermore, any field has its own jargon that a person must master.

ostly we don't care, having pretty much given up on the whole Stone Age thing. There are a few "bitter clingers", but most of us have assimilated nicely.
Thanks for asking.

Social workers in Little Havana, among others.

So. . . what you are saying is that it is wrong that Jane Doe's dreams of being a social worker in Little Havana hinge on learning another language.  If this is really Jane Doe's dream, then she has probably already started work on learning it.

Frankly, if a person wants something badly enough then they will aquire the skills for it.  That is just the way it works.

I wish democrats were goosesteppers... they aren't. The republicans cornered the market on goosestepping.... I can provide the most recent example, Karl Rove getting into line behind O'Donnell...........

More examples, if a right winger speaks out against Rush-fat-head-his-holiness he must then reverse himself and pray for Rush's forgiveness.

They were not labelled "the party of 'No'" for naught

Julia, Republicans are the party of "no?"

What about Obama and the Democrats?

"Enforce our laws." "NO!"
"Enforce our immigration laws." "NO!"
"Secure that Mexican border." "NO!"
"Close that Mexican border." "NO!"
"Stop giving Taxpayer dollars to bailout big corporations." "NO!"
"Bring our Troops home from Afganistan." "NO!"
"Get us out of NAFTA." "NO!"
"Please, no more free trade deals." "NO!"
"Help cities like Detroit get back on their feet." "NO!"
"Bring good paying jobs back to the U.S." "NO!"
"Stop giving our money away to foreign countries." "NO!"
"End anchor baby citizenship." "NO!"
"Help the homeless." "NO!"
"Stop growing the govt." "NO!"
"Abide by our constitution." "NO!"
"Stop sueing our states." "NO!"
"Stop spending money we don't have." "NO!"
"Start LISTENING to the American People." "NO!"

It goes a bit beyond them not agreeing with me when they want to interfere in people's lives and dictate what the moral code should be.

If they want to talk about saving the pennies that's fine but these people found an all encompassing group that will welcome anyone as long as they hate what they have now.

"Hate gay marriage?" come alone feel welcome
"Hate outrageous government spending?" come along feel welcome
"Hate Mexican's crossing the border?" come along feel welcome
"Hate little green men claiming ownership of the moon?" come along feel welcome

Who does this party turn away?

What exactly was this Teaparty movement set up to address? All of the above?

Yeah well set up a party like that and surprise surprise some people with different interests will turn up and the organisers will claim it as a victory for their main issue, if they had one.

My moral code is simply superior because it involves letting people live their lives as they wish as long as they aren't harming anybody else. It doesn't have to get any more complicated than this. Why do people make up all these silly rules as to what is moral and immoral? It's a pointless exercise.

Wearing blue on Tuesday...Immoral

You're kidding, right?

Do you think it might be just a tad helpful for social workers dealing with recent immigrants to be able to communicate with them?

That's a far cry from your claim that the Obama administration has "Immigration and multicultural policies that in reality discriminate against English speaking Americans by requiring them to learn a foreign language in order to get a job in their own country".

IMO it grew entirely from a populist pushback to 0bama0 spending and deathcare.
So far, also just imo, it is on track to address those issue very nicely indeed.

UMMMM, no, and not surprisingly, hell no.

1. It wasn't "my claim"
2. It is a factoid from memory in direct support of that claim.

Just out of curiosity Mr. Moderate Independent, didn't every one of these problems exist for years while the Republicans controlled the White House and Congress?

How about you searching that memory for that "factoid" and providing some real proof in "direct support of that claim".

Hint:
real proof is not what you claim to remember from some unknown source.

mnottertail -> RE: In Search of People of Color (at a "TEA party rally") (9/17/2010 2:10:47 PM)

one would suspect that social workers in little havana already knew spanish without being forced to learn it to get the job, since in cuba they do speak spanish, and in little havana they do speak spanish, so he's doubly fucked for the cite.
