Well, until you create your own language, you are kind of stuck with mine. History sucks, sometimes.

Maybe we should start forcing the tossers to spell it properly?
"There's a 'u' in colour. If you don't like that, learn fucking Spanish..."

And the new "N" word for the Dems is,....................."November."

Here's a tip: if you can't answer the point in somebody's post, or have no clue what they're talking about, try not to make a tit of yourself by replying to it.

Nice try.
I consider this a place to share opinions, at least as much as anything else. Save your comical demands for proof for the icourtroom.
It was in the 80s (I think), pre-internet, some woman got fired in Miami because she couldn't speak Spanish; became quite the cause celebre for a short while. Not sure how the court case came out.

Goddamn that Ronald Reagan, just unamerican to have that happen on his watch, huh?

That is just the way it works.

The way it is working is that America is becoming a Balkanied, forced-bilingual nation.
I oppose that.

'Miss Tick sniffed. "You could say this advice is priceless," she said. "Are you listening?"
"Yes," said Tiffany.
"Good. Now...if you trust in yourself..."
"Yes?"
"...and believe in your dreams..."
"Yes?"
"...and follow your star..." Miss Tick went on.
"Yes?"

It is good advice.

Julia, Republicans are the party of "no?"

What about Obama and the Democrats?

"Enforce our laws." "NO!"
"Enforce our immigration laws." "NO!"
"Secure that Mexican border." "NO!"
"Close that Mexican border." "NO!"
"Stop giving Taxpayer dollars to bailout big corporations." "NO!"
"Bring our Troops home from Afganistan." "NO!"
"Get us out of NAFTA." "NO!"
"Please, no more free trade deals." "NO!"
"Help cities like Detroit get back on their feet." "NO!"
"Bring good paying jobs back to the U.S." "NO!"
"Stop giving our money away to foreign countries." "NO!"
"End anchor baby citizenship." "NO!"
"Help the homeless." "NO!"
"Stop growing the govt." "NO!"
"Abide by our constitution." "NO!"
"Stop sueing our states." "NO!"
"Stop spending money we don't have." "NO!"
"Start LISTENING to the American People." "NO!"

Just out of curiosity Mr. Moderate Independent, didn't every one of these problems exist for years while the Republicans controlled the White House and Congress?

Mr "Moderate" Leftist, they did and it's not my purpose to defend the Republican party or any other party for not dealing with them.
The fact is that those problems exist right now and Obama and the Democrats have done nothing to deal with them.
You do remember Obama's campaign slogan? "Change."
My slogan; "WHEN?"
Who is the real party of "NO" here? I don't care *which party* does it just get it done!
I really couldn't care less who gets the credit for it .
Obama just isn't getting the job done!

I see, so you can spit out any unsubstantiated bullshit on here that you like and say you remember it as a fact,  then when someone calls you on your bullshit you can claim it was just an opinion.

Well forgive me, but I think I'm going to continue pointing out bullshit when I hear it.

At least until you start providing some documentation.

"They don't agree with me (the sanctified, super-duper intelligent, only-moral-correct-thinking person), therefore they are:

It goes a bit beyond them not agreeing with me when they want to interfere in people's lives and dictate what the moral code should be.

If they want to talk about saving the pennies that's fine but these people found an all encompassing group that will welcome anyone as long as they hate what they have now.

"Hate gay marriage?" come alone feel welcome
"Hate outrageous government spending?" come along feel welcome
"Hate Mexican's crossing the border?" come along feel welcome
"Hate little green men claiming ownership of the moon?" come along feel welcome

Who does this party turn away?

What exactly was this Teaparty movement set up to address? All of the above?

Yeah well set up a party like that and surprise surprise some people with different interests will turn up and the organisers will claim it as a victory for their main issue, if they had one.

My moral code is simply superior because it involves letting people live their lives as they wish as long as they aren't harming anybody else. It doesn't have to get any more complicated than this. Why do people make up all these silly rules as to what is moral and immoral? It's a pointless exercise.

Wearing blue on Tuesday...Immoral

My moral code is simply superior because it involves letting people live their lives as they wish as long as they aren't harming anybody else.

1.  Superior?  That's a moral judgment.
2.  The basic concept is libertarian.
3.  You forget the fact that we all live in a social environment.

This is an exact example of what I said: "They don't agree with me (the sanctified, super-duper intelligent, only-moral-correct-thinking person), therefore they are:"

Other comments:
"Hate gay marriage?" come alone feel welcome
Not a TEA party issue.

"Hate outrageous government spending?" come along feel welcome
So you approve of outrageous government spending?

Core TEA party issue.

"Hate Mexican's crossing the border?" come along feel welcome
Phrased as a moral judgment, implying racism.

How about "protect our borders, enforce our national sovereignty"?

"Hate little green men claiming ownership of the moon?" come along feel welcome
More made up crap, to denigrate TEA parties.

The TEA party (Taxed Enough Already) is primarily about the size of government, its reach and control, and out of control spending.

It isn't an single organization, nor is it a political party.  It is groups of shifting blocks of people with many different desires, but whose overriding concern are the issues listed above.

Ideologues in both parties vet candidates for adherence to a long lists of "positions" and "beliefs"  Look where it has gotten us.

It appears that as long as you agree with the core TEA issues, then your other issues aren't as important.  The range of issues which will get you ostracized from the TEA parties is much wider than those of the two political parties ... and that may be a good thing.

Unless you are an ideologue.

I agree completely.
I just fail to see how that even addresses the Balkanization of the United States, much less supports it.

No one is being forced to learn another language.  It is true that being multi-lingual will net you greater wages.

It is a choice each person has to make for themselves.

I have also already pointed out that many careers have needed more than one language for centuries now.  It is nothing new.

I would think being able to speak Swedish would make one better money than being able to speak Spanish.

Not my point. How would speaking Swedish be a career plus anywhere in the 'States?

popeye1250 -> RE: In Search of People of Color (at a "TEA party rally") (9/17/2010 4:20:49 PM)

I went to college with a guy from Sweden who worked at a nuclear plant and made great money. He learned the trade in Sweden and for whatever reason the plant management told him to get a "degree" although he knew more than anyone in the plant due to his outstanding education in Sweden.
I haven't run into too many Swedish janitors or lawn jockeys.
People who speak Swedish in the U.S. tend to cluster in higher paying professions.
It must be due to their superior education system in Sweden.
That goes for people who speak German and Dutch too.
