They said Rubio of Florida was unelectable, now hes in the lead

'Unelectable' Rubio opens 14-point lead over Crist...

Now its O'Donnell who is "unelectable" but guess what:

CASH POURS IN FOR O'DONNELL; $500,000 IN ONE DAY...

Another thing, recall all the Leftist claims that the Tea Partyrs were just another arm of the Republican Party? Well tat lies been laid to rest as O'Donnell is by no means the Republican establishment choice for Delaware.

Now the spin is that the Tea Party is tearing the Republican Party apart...

The truth is, the Tea Party is tearing politics as usual apart, and no establishment politician is safe.

Some of the steam behind the Tea Partys popularity:

CNN Poll: Only quarter of public trusts government

Washington (CNN) – A new poll indicates that only one in four Americans say they trust the government to do what is right always or most of the time, one explanation for the anti-incumbent sentiment in the country today.

According to CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national survey released Tuesday, 25 percent of the public indicates that they trust the government in Washington to do what's is right most or all of the time, with 66 percent saying they trust the government to do what's right only some of the time and eight percent saying they never trust the government.

It's not spin:

“I’m going to respect that vote,” he said, despite the uproar in Delaware’s state GOP operation over the loss of the popular Castle, a former governor.

Fox political analyst Karl Rove, the Austin-based former George W. Bush White House operative, said caustically that newcomer O’Donnell had said some “nutty things” and could not win the general election.

Several independent political analysts, including the Cook Political Report and the Rothenberg Report, moved the Delaware seat from “likely” Republican to “likely” Democratic column.

By the way, Rubio has opened a lead in the race because he has distanced himself from the teabaggers and adopted more moderate positions.

I have less trust in tea party government reforms than I did in Obama's change we can believe in.

pahunkboy -> RE: Tea Party Candidates Kicking Ass (9/15/2010 4:18:16 PM)

I dont know what the tea party is.  It sounds like the GOP- in a rebranded way.

Like any populist movement it's only as good as the people involved.

Those people don't seem particularly good, to me.

To sum it up...

"No taxes! Less government! Make Jesus our president!"

And not Raptor Jesus. The OTHER Jesus. (The Jewish one).

There is a Jewish one?

I hope the Christians don't hear about this.

I think there are numerous issues in DC and government in general.

I don't think the tea party is capable of fixing a single one of them.

All anyone has to remember on election day is THROW THE BUMS OUT!!!
If they're an incumbant, get rid of them!

Yes I see the "catchy slogan department" of the tea party is well staffed, but how about the "specific plans for government reform" department? They're probably going to need the support of those nasty RINO incumbents to pass anything, no?

Rove is make`n Hannity cry. Hilarious!!

Con strategists are now saying that they won`t take the senate.....

DomKen -> RE: Tea Party Candidates Kicking Ass (9/15/2010 5:52:30 PM)

Angle is anti alcohol and anti gambling in Nevada. She's toast.
Kirk has lied his way into a tie and he's still slipping in Illinois.
Paul has turned an easy R hold into a real fight. He may still win but its going to cost money and resources the GOP should be able to spend elsewhere.
Castle was a mortal lock in the general. Now O'Donnell has put the seat back into play.

The GOP's base's insistence on ideological purity looks likely to cost them at least 3 Senate seats. It may affect several Governor's races and as many as 20 House seats. I think this may be the election that either splinters the Republican party or the one that puts an end to the social conservatives as a political movement for a couple of generations.

popeye1250 -> RE: Tea Party Candidates Kicking Ass (9/15/2010 5:54:39 PM)

If Karl Rove doesn't like O'Donnell because she's not a "party candidate" and *won't kiss his ass* then she's the one I'd vote for if I lived in Delaware!
Fuck him!

I hate to break it to you Sanity, but Rubio is a republican I would vote for.  So if you consider me the left, consider that...and Rubio.  Crist abandoned his own party (which was republican) to get a strategic win.  While I am an independent I hardly think changing parties in the midst of your career for the sake of a win is a strategically good thing to do.  Kinda right up there with quitting your job as State governor to write books and make speeches, if you get my drift. [;)]

And here's my spin (or opinion) on it.

The republicans hated losing power to the democrats so badly that they romped and stomped and whined and cried and pointed fingers enough to rear the sleeping head of a monster (enter the Tea party).  Everyone still wants the democrats out, but now, the republicans still can't get in because of the hype they've generated.  It'll be interesting indeed to see how this plays out.

For what its worth, I'm with Elisabella on most all of her points.  I trust the tea partiers less than any other party.  Their logic doesn't make sense to me.  And most times, I don't even think they have a specific logic other than no taxes and less gov't.  While I am not for big, booming gov't, I think an establishment is necessary to avoid becoming a country like Afghanistan or Somalia.  They don't pay much (or anything) in taxes and there is little to no gov't so chaos reigns.  Its not how I would want to live.
