You didn't say "Arrr" Matey.  Are ye sure your one of us?

You've not been seeing what I've done on a different island, now have thee?  Buckle up your drawers, you loose scalliwag.  See if you can find your saber and come join the fun I been having:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_1030378/mpage_4167/key_/tm.htm#3409871

and, while thee be at it, after the next set-o'bells I figured to continue with this nice trinket:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_1030378/mpage_4167/key_/tm.htm#3410324

I be hoping a joy to thee, yes a joy.

---------

Writing for a few hours later:

The old "ye" actually was our modern "the" as in "Ye Olde Pub"  - That meant "The Old Pub"

Curiously almost the reverse is true of "Thee," which is our modern "you."  The Biblical "We give Thee thanks," although to the Lord, is our modern You (Capitalized.)  Today we have "Thee"s and "Thou"s in Amish speech, so the words continue.

On another string, someone adopted a more authentic (according to him) Jamican speech.... but I think that's not too good for a Pirate.  Anyway.... we'll see.  I'm sure the official TLAPD site will "go" for "Ye" in place of "You."  Just wanted to point out that since:

I be having a bit of fancy larning under me belt, I think the old Professor (of lingusitics) what taught me some ways folks speak, he might be turning in his grave. He's in Davey Jones locker, y'know.  Died at the hands of Blackbeard after trying to "correct" that man's speakin'.  Old Blackie didn't take so kindly and before you could say "ARRgggh," the Prof was swimmin' wit de fishes.  AArrrgh!

Answer, whatever you want dear! And as much as I adore Lance, I want it all for myself!

LanceHughes -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/19/2010 10:13:27 PM)

Mistletoe; Lance followed the link as soon as posted.  You see, I translated and got the same answer just after you did.  I posted a message over there and note that Wolf2Bear was there earlier as well.

Latest message from Mistletoe:

Thank you, what a reward now just what to do with it should I get my hands on it.

Gotta go, me fellow geeks.  My ship needs keeling afore I can put it out in the mornin' wid the tide.  Wish me a bon vouyage since I'll be sailin' thru the dark at a high speed.  I must arrive lands far away and unexplored.  The King has promised me hard money - actual dubloons!  Lord knows I need his coin.  The landlord is fixin' to bring the constables upon me.  AArrrrgh!

Safe journey to y'all and Gods Speed!

MistressRosalyn -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/19/2010 10:36:40 PM)

Arrrgh, I forgot to mention that from Chaos comes order!
Safe journeys to ye!

Malkinius -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/19/2010 11:00:40 PM)

{fast reply}

Greetings all...

Sorry folks....I should have posted this sooner. I would have if I had seen this thread.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61sdvxPRAT0

I am geeky enough to have been there. <grins>

Be well all....

Malkinius

MistressRosalyn -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/19/2010 11:03:25 PM)

Dang, I could only post a wimpy non-live version on the other thread!

Thanks for the live version!

MasterMalcolm -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/19/2010 11:15:59 PM)

Something I didn't mention: I don't drink anymore.  That means it be your duty to drink all the rum! (Why is the rum always gone?)  Otherwise my liver would have me bleeding belayed.

I'll be happy to be taking care of the "Grab his proud beauty" for all of you.  I be  pretty sure there was a redhead or two the mix; they be getting an extra cuddle.

Watch how close you be putting your hands to those pistols lads, I be packing a ship full of cannon.

Malkinius -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/19/2010 11:46:10 PM)

Greetings Malcolm....

Yer cannons be no problem matey because they are only loaded with the only book of the dictionary the pirates use. The AARRRRRsss..... Ye be carryin' a light load there.

Be well....

Malkinius

Aye. Beware the puddle pirates who know not the skills of the blue water jack tar. Let those who hast not braved Neptune's hoary court afore be cast down in the refuse to feel the flat of the cutlass and bite of the cat o' nine.

notomorrow -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/20/2010 6:14:41 AM)

I'm a music theory major and watch anime in my spare time. Does that make me a geek?

MasterMalcolm -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/20/2010 7:57:23 AM)

This is easily answered: TOS or TNG?

There are many correct answers, but if you need to Google them...
...then, no, you aren't a geek.

My answer to that question?  My answer is, "Star Wars."

If you understood this post without Google, then congratulations!  You are a geek!

MistressRosalyn -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/20/2010 11:59:21 AM)

Honestly? I'm not a geek. But the heavens know that I've spent far, far too many years WITH geeks, which makes me a member of the geek auxiliary. Being stuck in a booth for six people for three hours with three other lovely ladies, and two geeks trying their best to impress all of us with "My geek sword is bigger than YOUR geek sword" often leads to knowing more than one cares to know about obscure information about the planet the planet Zorg, and what the author meant when he said XYZ.

That's what the SCA will do to you I guess.

SebastianK -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/20/2010 1:27:57 PM)

TOS or TNG? DS9, the first 2 seasons. Or Star Wars.

Other than that, why is the bleedin' rum always gone? Avast, get yerself to the masts, we're headin' fer Port!

(Yeah, a day late, but I can't resist. That's the kind of geek I am!)

Ossilan -> RE: Geek as a lifestyle. (9/20/2010 2:37:49 PM)

quote:

I've been looking for a new slogan. You remember "We're here, we're queer! get used to it!"

It doesn't work so well with, "We're meek, we're Geek! Get used to it."

Especially because most geeks aren't meek.
