Writing for a few hours later:
The old "ye" actually was our modern "the" as in "Ye Olde Pub" - That meant "The Old Pub"
Curiously almost the reverse is true of "Thee," which is our modern "you." The Biblical "We give Thee thanks," although to the Lord, is our modern You (Capitalized.) Today we have "Thee"s and "Thou"s in Amish speech, so the words continue.
On another string, someone adopted a more authentic (according to him) Jamican speech.... but I think that's not too good for a Pirate. Anyway.... we'll see. I'm sure the official TLAPD site will "go" for "Ye" in place of "You." Just wanted to point out that since:
I be having a bit of fancy larning under me belt, I think the old Professor (of lingusitics) what taught me some ways folks speak, he might be turning in his grave. He's in Davey Jones locker, y'know. Died at the hands of Blackbeard after trying to "correct" that man's speakin'. Old Blackie didn't take so kindly and before you could say "ARRgggh," the Prof was swimmin' wit de fishes. AArrrgh!
