O'Donnell has a huge advantage going for her, she's *not* a lawyer.
Her opposition, "The Bearded Marxist" is.

I hope you realise that this is simply a regurgitation of your own personal bias...and not necessarily a belief held by all.

Popeye doesn't have any bias.

He is a fair-minded moderate Independent who sees the merits on both sides of the political divide.

The fact is that Islam has been at war with us since long before we were US. It was Jefferson who, arguably, came closest to a war with Islam itself

"As Jefferson later reported to Secretary of State John Jay, and to the Congress:

The ambassador answered us that [the right] was founded on the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have answered their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise. "

Islam does not play well with others.

So, we should stop buying oil from Muslim countries?

Or maybe you would rather the US invade the Muslim oil producing countries and take over the oil fields. Of course the native population might be a bit upset about that kind of move, so we may want to revive the way the US took what it wanted in the 1700 and 1800's, I will let you do some research to find out how that was accomplished.

I'll enjoy responding to your post, but one thing first, please.
How in the hell did you conclude that my post had any fucking thing at all to do with buying oil from Muslim countries?

That reference to "Islam does not play well with others" and the assertion that all of the evil mooslims just want to forcibly convert the western world.
If you actually believe that, then it's a bit dim to be in favour of pumping huge sums of money into countries like Saudi Arabia that have rather more of a proven connection with that Al Queda lot than Iraq did, dig?

OTOH, the Treaty of Tripoli, which Jefferson duly signed and the Congress ratified, declared that the United States of America does not wage war on Islam, as a religion. Non-compliance of the treaty, on the part of the Barbary Corsairs, led to warfare. It was the violation of a specific treaty as well as a declaration of war from Morocco, at the time one of the pirate states, that caused the war. In other words, America was never at war with Islam. But Jefferson did wage war on pirates who believed their actions were justified by the said creed.

Which is pretty much the current state with Al Queda, sadly: not only do they not speak for Islam as a whole, there's plenty of sects and Koran scholars* who question that they even qualify as muslims in the first place. Even a lot of shi'ites think they're barking.

*(There's some term for that I can't bring to mind.)

Right wing radicals, bankers, industrialists and politicians who directly benefit from the foregoing...ALL want war...anywhere. Islam in general and the Persian gulf in particular, will do...just fine. This is of course if you build enough political ground work, fear...and spin.

N. Korea for example becomes very telling in that rather than invade (too costly, insufficient fear) we will build a multi-$billion missile defense system the success of which of course, always being in doubt...will require $millions a year in improvements and R & D etc. etc.

They do not do the fighting or the dying, they pay as little as possible and for political expediency...you shouldn't either but your kids and their kids will.
