Termyn8or -> RE: "Proofiness", or numbers one wishes to be true (9/19/2010 9:54:21 PM)

FR This is something I have been saying for years, how's come nobody believed me but now they believe that guy ? Percentage, percentile, average, mean, root mean square. These are not "fudges" of statistics, but few understand the differences. When you add up the numbers a certain way, you get one result, another way and you get a different result. Of course I am not referring to simple addition. And Bush was not actually lying when he said the average American family, he just meant average to him. The only people he ever has any contact with who aren't multimillionaires is the valet at a restaurant, and I mean probably not even the chefs and the waiters. ( well perhaps some of his ESSENTIAL bodyguards ) Take drug companies for example. One drug under test results in 35% getting cramps, diarhea(sp), nosebleeds and hearing loss. Another drug results in immediate death, but only for 5%. Which one goes to market first ? And this is not even the crux of the bullshit. It goes alot farther than that. Any and all are welcome to ignore the words of a dropout while embracing the "facts" as given by people who went to toga parties and bought some letters after their name. Go right ahead. T
