Face Slapping seems to have become part of D/s Porn suddenly. [maybe NOT so suddenly, I might have missed a few years of porn - hey I was busy with the real thing!] Anyway, I am curious how it is viewed in real life? What say you all? Common and "acceptable" or not? Erotic?

Pretty common in most of my relationships. Not with Chael, but with others, yes. Rarely is it at all erotic for me, it's usually just useful.

I was never into it, but thought it acceptable to do...considered it. Until, that is, I read a recent post where someone had linked to a page with detailed info on face slapping and techniques. Some of the warnings about damage done to face and eyes made me decide to never try it (Sure sure...I've no doubt some have mastered the art of safe face slapping, but I'm a bit clumsy, so it seems like a no no activity for me).

I have an enormous attraction to it. However it is too high a risk activity for me. I have implants in both eyes and he wears a 2X glove. With hands that big, it is only too likely that he would brush an eye. Because of the implants, even brushing one could cause permanent blindness. So alas, it will never happen.

After being with DB for 7 years, it is something that I finally asked Him to try with me this year.  Before now, if He would have done it, I may have tried to slap Him back because it was just that much of a hot button with me.  I started watching more of the BDSM porn where it was done safely and it looked hot.  When I started forwarding clips of the videos I had been watching, with a little note, "I'd like to know what this feels like," He later obliged me.  He didn't tell me that He was going to do it, but when it happened, I was shocked and strangely turned on.  Now, He does it when we are playing nice and rough and He sees me lifting my face to Him, offering it.  Sometimes, He just does it because He or I seem to be in the right headspace.

I need to be in the right head space to enjoy it. If I am not it breaks me down emotionally...I have to be deeply involved with someone to allow them that far into my psyche. It means they may use face slapping in ways that could be extremely hard for me to cope with, either intentionally, or as happened in my last relationship, accidentally.

This question has come up before.  In the end your answer is "it depends."  Some love to be slapped.  It's a big turn on.  Then you have those who hate it.  Lastly are a few how have it as a hard limit, usually due to a bad memory when they were slapped previously in their lives.  .

It is one of the most intense and intimate activities I can experience with a trusting partner.  My response to being slapped depends on the context - if it's as a correction, I am immediately internally silenced, and go to a very quiet and sad place within (my owner does not slap as a correction but my ex did).  If it's during passionate sex or "play," it can bring out the primal side of me.  I absolutely love it.

one person, and one person only has ever gotten away with slapping my face in terms of d/s play and i was actually surprised at the outcome; he's the only person that ever did it and got away with not being knocked on his ass.

I don't know much about what happens in porn.  I'm not a fan of the stuff.

This is one of the activities that I have no issue dealing with how the person I'm playing with feels about it.  For example, My first slave had this on the top of his hard limit list, while pet loved it.  (Which means I literally had to learn how to do it properly in the second case.)  Based on the fact that, for some people it can be a strong emotional trigger, it's really not an area that I am willing to push.  If they become ready over time, I'll gladly indulge them, being on higher alert for fall out should a problem arise.

I thought I'd like to try it and let him know. When he went ahead and slapped me at a future session I reacted very intensely to it and cried hard enough that he stopped everything else. I dont think he'll be doing it again anytime soon, but if he wants to I'd not object.

Overall I'd have to be with someone I trusted intimately and deeply to even contemplate it and even that had more of an explosive reaction on my part than I bargained for. I thought it would be exciting and hot, but it was more of an emotional trigger. In the end it wasn't a bad thing, just not something I'd choose to do very often.

As with many other BDSM activities this should only be done while being aware of what could go wrong. Never in real anger and always with the acceptance of your sub. I've had a sub into this and hair-pulling makes a good combo ...
