No, gravity is a physical property we can measure. An explanation what it means is a theory. Gravity in this context would compare to a biosphere.

Actually, we can measure it macroscopically. We can measure it but we dont know how it works and we cannot be sure of measuring it either over stellar distances or microscopically. We have theories about it but they keep having to be changed.

Evolution can be measured as well. Ever hear of "genetic drift"?

Yeah but dragons can fly, so we all know they don't need a boat to weather the storm.

How long is a giraffes neck? If the met office kept better records we could see which single historic rainfall event lead to a rain depth > giraffes neck.

Never mind the dinosaurs (that whole fossil record thing is a fake, after all, cooked up as a test of faith), but what about the freshwater fish? How did Noah, and his sons, build a huge aquarium that could keep alive two specimens of every species of freshwater biota (the fish are the most obvious example, as there's evolutionary adaptations to their environment which are pretty much guaranteed to kill freshwater fish in sea water, and vice versa, but there's plenty more) on an ark that was only a few dozen cubits? Maybe the fucker was a Time Lord or something, and nobody has found any trace of the ark because it vanished when he went off in it to fight the Daleks after the flood was over...

I guess we should consign geology to the scrapheap also. Since it accepts the evolution of micro-organisms and uses it date sequences of rock formations.

Oh well at least we still know the earth is the centre of the universe and the sun rotates around the earth.

Sure, one can study the allele frequencies or the genetic variation in general. The question is how to interpret the data.

Seems pretty straightforward, a numbers game. Those with naturally occurring mutations that lead to them better suiting their environment will thrive.

Not really. It's a scientific theory that our universe in only one of a possibly infinite number of universes forming an overarching multi-verse. There's no evidence for this.

It's considered a fact that we exist - but the evidence is sketchy at best. When people laugh at those with religious faith and ask them to prove that their God exists, I am always puzzled as to why the religious folk don't turn around and say 'Prove you exist, first'.

On saying that, I still think Creationism is nuts, even though it is entirely possible that the universe only sprang into existence 3.6 seconds ago, and everything I am experiencing, including my memory of being here considerably longer than that, is simply part of the new creation - along with all those pesky fossils of course.
