ORIGINAL: pyroaquatic Eating meat is an inefficient way to process the energy from the sun. That being said I have eaten: Cow brains, worms, termites, sugar ants, snakes, no alligator yet, squirrel seagul (seriously tastes like vomit going down and coming up. don't ever try to eat those nasty things.) dill, wild carrots pine needles bark flowers, all sorts of flowers roots of many plants... starchy. grubs, insects... boar, mushrooms I have not had human yet. Yeah, I am an omnivore because the food comes along and if I miss out I'll starve. The worst thing I have ever eaten was some type of seed that was poisonous. Hey, when you are starving you will try to eat everything. I been a bit cautious since I was literally tripping for 24 hours. It was like looking at Starry night except I could not escape it. So yeah, meat is poison, poison is poison. Don't eat poison and trip balls. Stay away from the spiked 'fruit' I haven't had termites or ants. Had Chapulines in Mexico; fried grasshoppers. Made a taco out of 'em with frijoles negros refritos, salsa, & guacamole. Kind of like peanuts with legs. Had Iguana in Mexico, too. No seagulls. Emu. Wild Boar. Asafoetida (an Indian spice that has the most horrible smell of anything I've ever smelled that wasn't excrement.) Mountain oysters. Queen Anne's Lace is a type of wild carrot. Not had pine needles. Have had fern shoots, cat-tails, nasturtiums, violets, seaweed up in Alaska, eel in the Netherlands, quail eggs, corn fungus, nopalitos (Nopal (Opuntia species) cactus), San Pedro cactus (has mescaline), Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds (contain Lysergic Acid amide), young nettles, lambs ears (chenopodium IIRC), sea urchin. I make a meat substitute out of wheat gluten, soy sauce, chile sauce, and sometimes chicken stock. Can't reme, ber what it's called. I deep-fry my tofu in strips about 2"x1"x1/4-1/2" after pressing the water out. Then I make a peanut sauce, and I stir-fry snow peas, mushrooms, carrot slices, and sometimes baby bok-choy, and toss all that with the sauce, the tofu, and chinese noodles. I've tried making my own chinese noodles, and failed utterly. I wish I could find a wholesale or quantity source for them, as Italian pastas just aren't right in Asian dishes. Love Pho. I really like the Tofurky "sausages", and the Morningstar soy "burger" crumbles and "chicken" strips aren't bad, but they're pricy. Like the Boca burgers, too. The Dr. Praeger burgers are interesting, but they tend to fall apart on me. I'm perfectly happy to go without meat, but I do eat it.
