Ok, i have a question. A Master i know has made the decision to serve a Mistress. He wants to know what He puts His slaves through. Is this a common thing? i've heard of Masters starting out as a sub, but not being taught as a Master then becoming a sub. i'm not judging, and this Man is very dear to me. i would  just like to get other opinions on this since matter i have not encountered this before. Thanks to A/anyone that replies.....

I know of someone who did this same thing because he was exploring this side of himself, he served a mistress for a full year. He said he thought it made him a better dominant.

truesub4u -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 12:28:21 PM)

I honestly do not know... i've never heard of a Master submitting to a Mistress... i've heard of Doms doing this.. but not Masters. And like you... have heard of them starting off that way... but not later.... interresting.

MistWalker -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 12:37:42 PM)

well some use the word Master more, loosly then others, but thats beside the point.. i have known Dom/me's that started out as subs, and felt it made them better at it, because they had the experences, and i myself started as a sub and am growing into a switch some what..and ive known a few that decided to try exploring submiiting after that had been D, but its not that common i think at least in that order of doign things..

I'm a dominant. I think it come from having so much power you get curious. Besides one that gives up total control really has the power.

You can't be a Master with out a slave. Without the one giving it, he ir she has no control and power.

I have heard of such. I sincerely doubt that I could ever submit to a man however there are a few women that I respect a great deal and can imagine giving it a shot. One of whom belongs to CM and posts frequently. I doubt that it will ever happen, however I won't say never.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 12:51:52 PM)

First off- the obvious is that if you can imagine it, it's happening, and people are very happy doing it.

But yes, this is not uncommon for people to decide to try new things, and explore a different orientation over time.

Well, he can go through similar experiences, but that's not really going to be an indication of what his slaves feel. It's like asking someone to rate pain on a scale of one to ten. What is a one for you might be a five for me. It's all perspective. He is only going to know how it makes 'him' feel, but if he doesn't have the mindset of a slave, I seriously doubt he's going to be clued in by trying to act like one.

i want to know where is the handbook on being a Master? Does it say anywhere in there that he can't explore something else? I have often heard of a femdomme who has a Master but keeps subs as well. Why couldn't it be the same here? Why is there such a double standard when it comes to male doms? He wants to explore that side of himself..i say brilliant for him. I hope he gets what he can out of it and is happy.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 1:06:18 PM)

I know a wonderful man who has been Master then slave then Master. I know Masters who have Masters. So, I don't see anything too unusual about a Master serving a Mistress.

I have been around the lifestyle for a little while now.  About 2 years ago I decided to explore my submissive side.  I found a Dom and tried very hard to be his sub.  It was a very good experience and I learned a lot about myself, mainly that I'm not submissive.

For the last 4 months I have been working with a Master.  He is my sub.  He is as extreme a Master as I have ever met, and he goes just as extreme to his submissive side as well.  He is the most fun male sub I've had the pleasure of playing with.

The question that you pose, "Is this common?" is no different than asking if any one specific kink is common.

Proprietrix -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 1:50:18 PM)

I've had LOTS of male Doms message me and say something to the extent of, they are Doms, but they want to see what the other side of the fence feels like, can they session a few times with me or do a 6 month D/s contract with me. Many of them have a sub/slave, and due to the sub/slave's insecurities about it, the Dom doesn't tell his sub/slave this is something he's trying.

Some of them I have sessioned with. The ones in a current D/s-M/s relationship though, I tell them the same thing I'd tell a married man "I'll be more than happy to help you out all I can *IF* your significant other/spouse/sub/slave, is involved also." Then they usually hand me a line about they are the Dom and it's their discretion, and their sub has no right or privilege to know. I always reply
"Not when I'm in charge."  :)

It gives them at least one big glimpse of what it feels like to give up power.

HayaSierra -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 1:52:11 PM)

Greetings everyone,

In my culture and system of D/s it is common for a Dominant to do such, in fact many Hanian Dominants learn both sides of the rope so to speak. I've been trained in such manner as well, and my slave-skills are known by others in Hanian society.  The reason this is done in my community and society is that in order to truly understand what a slave feels, one has to experience life from all sides of the coin. I've begged and pleaded my case before another Dominant. I've slept in places normally reserved for animals. I've walked barefoot outside and inside, gotten beaten before, and been controlled in so many ways I can barely begin to describe them.  I've learned various cultural slave-arts -- both because I was required to do so for my training and because I take my household seriously and am very specific about knowing all the things I make others go through. This includes display dance, giving devotions to sexual skills of various sorts. While I don't let everyone into that part of my life, nor share all of my experiences thereof -- I have kept them close to heart and use the knowledge I gained from them to better control my own slaves.  And yes, they DO notice the difference by a better level of understanding that I show.

As for a Dominant actually submitting for good, one only needs to look at my Pet and sex-slave Rokarr to know the answer to this. He wears my collar, my lock and is mine completely -- but he is not a slave by nature. He is a Dominant... a Master in his own right, but by choice and devotion he is mine. His submission to me for life is probably not common, but I felt it should be mentioned as part of this discussion to show that indeed such is possible and has occured.

Hope this helped a bit, that in at least some places this is fairly common.

Haya Sierra ---

If I may... I want to reprise my earlier post... I have heard about this... I just forgot I have... LOL... thanks Misstress for refreshing my memory... I think the pain meds causes CRS... [;)]

apb -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 4:31:37 PM)

Yeah ... what is "common" anyways?

I started out as a sub (and still am - I love being a sub) but as time has gone by I have become interested in learning to be a Domme.

Watching my first Master (Eric) serve as a sub has been extremely interesting.  As Tress says, he is as extreme as a sub as he is in Dom mode.  Actually - given the recent ball-nailing - I think it would be safe to say he is even more extreme as a sub!!

TheShadows -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 4:42:24 PM)

I make it no secret that I once "submitted", and I use this in the loosest of terms, to my Husband.  He also played around a bit as a "submissive" before we ever met.  I believe in my heart of hearts that our experiences have made us more understanding Dominants towards those submissives/slaves we interact with, and more understanding spouses to each other.

I've grown from a "submissive" into a Dominant.  I know submissives who've grown into slaves.  The list goes on and on.  It's common for me because I know many who've grown into something more than they were when they started out.

As always, YMMV.

bandit25 -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 4:46:48 PM)

Yeah, now that I think of it, true, I've only heard of doms doing that also...not Masters.

slavejali -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 5:03:11 PM)

I think he has submissive tendencies and just wants to explore that and is using the guise of wanting to know what he is putting his submissives through as an excuse, he has probably become jealous of their reactions and wanting to experience it himself. Like realistically, how can a dominant person really ever know what a submissive person feels like in service? Heck if he just wanted to feel what a cane felt like, he could get one of his submissives to whack him *grin* so basicallly I think there is more going on here than meets the eye.

LOL damn bandit... I was revising my earlier statement there.... I have only ever heard of 1 Master doing this... though other than Misstress's situation..... I'll still stand by my earlier post... up until then... I had only heard of Doms doing this... not Master's.... Eric I had forgotten about... sorry about that.

WyrdRich -> RE: Is this common (4/24/2006 9:05:06 PM)

Why is it so damn hard for people to admit they like to switch?
